The Wrestling Thread is supposed to be cold, it’s gazpacho! - Part 111

Why?

That ending was absolute GOLD.

Daniel Bryan went over John Cena CLEAN, WITHOUT any shenanigans from Triple H or Vince McMahon. Daniel Bryan got his huge win.

Randy Orton cashed in, turning heel, something that he has needed to do for awhile now.

Triple H also cashed in, where he is better.

And for all those whining about "part timers", Triple H kept himself out of everything, and it wasn't about him. It was about the belt, about Cena v. Daniel Bryan, about Daniel Bryan's victory, and then about getting Orton over as a heel.

That main event was great storyline that did everything that everyone in this thread wanted it to do, which was get Daniel Bryan over and get Orton heel.

That ending could not have possibly been done any better.

Agreed. This is gonna lead to a great fall. I wonder what they're going to be building up to Survivor Series with.

This wont happen very often so mark it down fellas.....I agree with you Nell 100%, I just wanted Bryan and Cena to have their match clean, which they did. The fact everyone is so pissed off is EXACTLY why having Orton cash-in made sense as it cements Orton's heel turn.

Summerslam was awesome and when WWE is on that form they are untouchable, NJPW, NOAH, ROH, PWG and every Japanese and Indie promotion in-between.....I got 2 words for ya!.....Take it home Nell, I'm out.

He'd at least be a good transition champ to get the WHC into the Rhodes Scholar fued.

Is Sin Cara vs Rey at WM ever gonna happen?

I sure hope not :(

And what's with all this talk of Punk not going over Cena clean??

Did you guys miss Money In The Bank 2011?

I'm happier with the WWE product now than I have been in years.

This has been a good year IMO.

If the WWE were to sign Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, how would they do in WWE?
My friend, who worked ROH escorting Homicide to the ring Saturday, said Davey Richards joined TNA. I called hogwash, but he was adamant about it. We'll see, I really don't see Richards in TNA.

He was also very happy Roderick Strong remembered his name.

:(

- Hunter and Nell are on the same wavelength on wrestling

- the WWE is supporting a young, active, openly gay male wrestler

- John Cena was beaten 100% clean for the WWE title

- Brie Bella wrestled a full match at a PPV and it wasn't horrible

- the WWE finally has a main-event-level villain

- smark fans and kid fans are equally pissed off about the same issue

I ... I'm scared. This must be the sign of The Rapture or something. :(

Hell of a finish from Bryan and Cena took it like a man, Bryan needs to start using that as an alternative finish to his Yes-Lock. Shame they didn't get to replay it as the celebration took over.

Same. I really hope he doesn't abandon the Boma Ye because that is one of my favorite moves from his arsenal.

Watched the repeat of Summerslam, it was SICK.

Maybe clean is the wrong word. Cena and Punk were distracted a couple of times in the match by Vince and Laurinaitis, while there was nothing distracting Cena and Bryan at Summerslam.

Yea but if anything, those distractions were meant to stack the odds against CM Punk. So he overcame even greater odds than Bryan did.

Obviously what Bryan did was memorable and significant. But what Punk did to Cena was just as, if not more, significant.

Daniel Bryan got a clean win for the belt.

CM Punk was given free reign to say whatever he wanted, and an entire angle catered to his wishes and desires with an uncertain contract situation.

According to PWInsider.com, while the response to the ending of SummerSlam last night has been mostly positive, there was somewhat of a mixed bag type reaction backstage in WWE.

Some felt the angle was fantastic, and now Daniel Bryan is in a place where he can he can tell a great story chasing the title and getting his revenge, which will get him over even more.

Others felt WWE should have let Bryan have his WWE Title win moment, as the win against Cena at a PPV like SummerSlam was enough to get him over immediately, and he wouldn't need to try to get over chasing the title.

It's also being said that there were several people who thought it was pretty ridiculous that Bryan couldn't kick out of the Orton pin since so much time had elapsed between the pin and Triple H's pedigree. The feeling by some is that a retired wrestler's maneuver shouldn't more devastating than anything John Cena did to Bryan during the bout.

According to PWInsider.com, John Cena will indeed be taking time off to have surgery on his injured elbow. It's being said that unlike in the past, when Cena has returned early from injury/surgery, this time he will be taking the necessary amount of time off to make sure he heals up properly.

^ And that right there is when people start looking into it way too much and start ruining it.

I couldn't disagree with you more: whatever happened to the ice cream bars we were promised?!

They were getting ready to release them when Ryback debuted on the main roster.

Little known Ryback fact: "Feed me more" is Ryback's ongoing angle to get more CM Punk ice cream bars. Ryback's entire run thus far has been professional wrestling's longest shoot.

so, aside from Orton, who else will Bryan feud with now??

Barrett, I guess, as sort of the HHH/McMahon "#2 guy??"

This is actually how I felt as well. I realize he'd just had a grueling match with Cena, but given the time Orton was taking walking back to the ring, soaking in the crowd reaction, dramatically giving the briefcase to Triple H, who then dramatically called for the bell, I thought Bryan (since they have established him as a resilient guy who can take a beating) could have stumbled to his feet after selling the pedigree for a while, taken an RKO and THEN ate the pin.

I don't have an issue with the booking outside of that. I'm ok with Bryan getting screwed out of the title by a Trips/Orton alliance and having to chase for a while, as long as he regains it down the road, maybe at Hell In A Cell (which, by the way, is also the ideal ppv for a culmination of the Punk/Lesnar/Heyman feud) or Survivor Series. Or, perhaps they will want to have a title change at their inaugural Battleground ppv.

That's a waste as I'd like to see the American Wolves come into WWE as a team and face The Shield, but Eddie is the better of the two all round anyway so WWE will hopefully bring him in.

What move was even being attempted here?

He wasn't going for a move, he was countering the hurricanrana and then after he got to mat he turend it into the STF.

Same. I really hope he doesn't abandon the Boma Ye because that is one of my favorite moves from his arsenal.

The show should end tonight with Bryan hitting it on Orton and standing over his prone body with the WWE title in his hand as the crowd chant YES!.

Imagine how much worse the uproar could have been, had Haitch given the crowd the same smirk before giving Bryan the Pedigree, that he gave when he gave Hornswoggle the Pedigree.

I almost wish he had done it just to piss the IWC off even more. :funny:

I'm so happy that 99% of us loved the SummerSlam finish.
