The Wrestling Thread Mustache You a Question

Actually I have a question. When in the blue hell is WWE going to release an "Invasion" DVD/BluRay?

exclude. If you count 3MB together though the number goes up to 8, which is more than a Charlotte Bobcats game.

I would act like I am upset about you hating on the Bobcats so much since I am from North Carolina, but since I have never been to a game, own no merchandise, and have watched like 2 games on tv... yeah, I'd say you are correct.

Seriously, and my home city of Vancouver is the one that lost its NBA team? Geez.

This would have been awful. [YT]BnzwW9ObW5I[/YT]

Talk about a waste of time. Vince just needs to stay retired from the ring...for good. Its past the point of looking ridiculous and is just plain embaressing whenever he even thinks about getting in the ring. He's an old man now. An old man in good shape but still an old man. A non wrestler at that. He needs to stop feeding his ego with crap like this. White had the good sense to turn him down and I don't think anyone is surprised about that. Dana is a serious businessman...not a guy out to fool around.

2. Are there any more details about Randy and Elizabeth's divorce other than Hulk and Linda Hogan basically helping to ruin their marriage? And does anyone think there is any validity to the idea that Hulk and Elizabeth were messing around?

3. I know Elizabeth and Lex Luger had an abusive relationship, but is that the main reason why so many people claim that Luger basically "killed" her?

4. Why was Hulk Hogan usually around whenever Savage won a world title
?

I don't believe anything Hogan says about Savage or Elizabeth. All that talk about he and Savage making up before Savage died...all we have is Hogan's word.

I think because Randy was so controlling Liz just had enough. As far as her death the blame I'd put on Luger is providing her with drugs. Even for a bit after she died the guy was a walking pharmacy.

Number 4 is pretty easy to answer. Hogan always hung around to siphone off another guys popularity when he could. He did it over and over. He hung around Randy to stay in the spotlight while he was off filming No Holds Barred. He knew Savage would be a popular champion that he could beat later and get attention. He hung around when Warrior was champ to make sure he didn't totally lose his spot. It might be one reason (among many) Warriors run didn't quite work out).

He admits he chose Slaughter to work WM7 and he wanted Slaughter to turn heel. He knew that would get massive heat that he could then play off of. Hogan put himself into a title match at the end of WM9 just so he could get the belt back. Is it a coincidence that he went to Japan shortly after to work AS champion? I doubt it.

Even in WCW he probably dropped the title to Goldberg so he could go over on him later. And he made sure Sting didn't get put over the way he should have been. Its simply a case of Hogan thinking everything should revolve around him. We're still seeing it in TNA now.

There's no way I'm paying for this one alone. I still may watch it live but even that is still up in the air.

Thats still one of my favorite Flair matches of the last 12 years or so. He got back to a higher level with that match. I marked out a lil bit when Arn did his spot with the spinbuster.

Its another one that was better than WM18's main event.

Yeah they talk about it on one of the dvd's. I think it was the Heartbreak and Triumph dvd.

They'll be live every two weeks I believe. Live one week and taped the next. Just like Raw was in its early days.

He was very polite and appreciative. You don't have a true idea how big he is until you see him in person.

I had a chuckle because he had and Aces & 8's shirt on under his jacket

A bit of kayfabing with his gear. I always like things like that. He seems like a really good guy. I hope he does well in TNA. He's one of the few good fits in Aces & Eights. Like you said he's huge.

Man...The NWA REALLY should have let TNA keep using their belts and name. TNA doesn't need it now but the NWA could use the publicity. I know there were drawbacks and the NWA probably wanted more freedom to do what they wanted with their titles but they should have at least stayed associated with TNA somehow.

I personally watched because although I thought Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were really cool I hated Hulk Hogan, I hated Hollywood Hogan and I tuned in every week to watch Sting beat the crap out of the nWo.

But I came across an article recently that gave the opinion that the reason the nWo angle was so hot was because it was Hogan's first heel turn and because of the changing fan taste at the time (boo'ing the lame face and cheering the edgy heel) that they embraced Hogan as the new hero (which I disagree with).

So where do you think their success stem from? People wanting to watch Hogan as a heel, or wanting to watch Hogan get destroyed? And why did you watch
?

It was a combo of things. But the big reason I and a lot of people watched was because WCW was simply putting on an edgier, cooler, more modern, more unpredictable product. Unpredictability was a huge component of Nitros sucess. There was this sense of hyper realism. Obviously it was still wrasslin but this was different from what we had seen before. The Cruiserweights were innovative and groundbreaking too.

We got to see backstage and behind the scenes more and more. The NWO weren't guys in tights. They wore black shirts and blue jeans and carried crowbars and pipes and bats. They were a gang. I still remember that night that they attacked the WCW guys in the production area and Nash threw Rey into the production truck wall or trailer wall or whatever it was. Then there was the aftermath. It was madness. Everything just had this edge to it. This cool factor. It wasn't like WWF at the time where we still had the Godwinns hauling buckets of slop to the ring.

Every week Nitro's ending was a kind of cliffhanger and you couldn't wait to tune in next week to see what would happen next. It was addictive.

I didn't hate Hogan. Quite the opposite. For a while it was the first time in a long time that I found him incredibly enjoyable to watch. I loved hating him and loved watching the NWO. Hogan wasn't the new hero but he was fun to watch. They were cool heels. They were funny. Even Hogan. Lots of people wanted to be like the NWO. Its the same way they would feel about Austin soon after. There was also a love/hate kind of thing. I also loved watched WCW's top faces like Sting, Savage, The Horsemen, etc. I found myself rooting for both sides at times. It made for an interesting experience. No matter what I found myself entertained.

Battle Royal

Rules applied for the match were that a knockout entered every two minutes. Over the rope eliminations but the final two face off in a match.

Entrants
1) Hannah Blossom
2) Gail Kim
3) Lei’d Tapa
4) Tara
5) Mickie James
6) Brooke Tessmacher
7) Jackie Moore
8) ODB
9) Velvet Sky
Eliminations
1) Hannah Blossom
2) Lei’d Tapa
3) Jackie
4) ODB
5) Velvet
6) Tessmacher
7) Tara

The match came down to Gail and Mickie, Gail acted like she was injuried and rolled up Mickie for the win.

Madison Rayne then came out to the ring and put a crown on Gail’s head. Gail forced Madison to leave the ring and posed for the crowd. That concluded the tapings.

Interesting.
Even though its not going to be as good as it could have been if they had gotten most of the KO's they contacted it still seems like TNA managed to get a couple of good names to participate. I hope Ivelisse and Serena get contracts. And it would be cool if they bring Alissa Flash/Melissa back. And Trinity! Ohhh...caution tape never made me so happy back in the days of WWECW.

Kim vs Flash and James vs Deeb could be amazing. Can't wait to find out.

Those are some good dvd's. I really need to track down the Ladder Match 2 dvd. Sometimes its good to wait until the price drops on some sets. I never did get that Falls Count Anywhere dvd either.

At least this list makes some kind of sense. I can see the argument for the rankings being sound unlike the Top 50 Superstars of All Time list which was BS.

Great interview. Not much new stuff but there are a few interesting bits. Either way Austin is a class act. The story about the lie that the payoff checks were their money for gas is hilarious and respect inspiring at the same time.

They probably will eventually when they work down through the new subjects they can cover on dvd. But its not surprising that they haven't since the WCW, MNW's, and Attitude Era dvds have covered some of the same ground. That and the fact that a lot of people found the Invasion to be underwhelming.

- Before his passing, William "Paul Bearer" Moody was scheduled to be honored with the Lou Thesz Award at this year's Cauliflower Alley Club convention. Former NWA Champion Adam Pearce announced that he has been chosen by the Moody family to accept the award on behalf of Moody.

- It was noted by a WWE source how odd it feels having no WWE Champion at live events for the past month and a half now. At the same time, WWE officials are surprised and pleased with the recent success they have seen with live event attendance on the Road to WrestleMania 29.

WWE Spoils WrestleMania Bout Change?

As reported earlier, WWE announced on Friday's SmackDown episode that Ryback, Randy Orton & Sheamus would take on The Shield at this year's WrestleMania pay-per-view event. We also noted that Ryback will most likely be pulled from that match and replaced by The Big Show.

WWE.com may have spoiled that change as they have a photo that shows The Big Show in Ryback's place in a promotional image for the bout.

Haha, oh those guys. :lmao:

- As noted earlier, there is strong concern over Rey Mysterio's WWE future. This has led to WWE officials being really worried about a top Latin babyface more than ever. The feeling is Alberto Del Rio hasn't gotten over like they want, Sin Cara has been written off as a flop and Mysterio is always injured.

Partial source: F4Wonline.com

As noted earlier, Rey Mysterio has been dealing with knee issues for quite some time, and feared that he had torn the ACL in his good knee. Dr. James Andrews said he would be able to wrestle but not without the help of a special brace.

Dave Meltzer noted during the Wrestling Observer Radio show this past weekend that Mysterio is "officially" slated to return in June, but there is also the change that he may not return at all.

"The official company line on Rey Mysterio is that he will be back, hopefully, in June... after rehabbing the knee," said Meltzer. "But he may not be back at all. And it's not retirement, but there's something going on... there was stuff going on that they were working on perhaps a release, but they want merchandising rights... but officially he'll back in June."

As of this writing, Mysterio is listed on the "events" page on WWE.com for the Monday Night Raw following WrestleMania 29 on April 8th from the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. Mysterio is also listed for the Raw WrestleMania Revenge Tour in the U.K. in April. This may simply be a case of the listings being outdated.

Mysterio needs to retire. If he comes back, he won't be the same, and he will be even slower and hampered. If he comes back, I think he should be back in a backstage capacity like a trainer or something like that.

WWE is in a bind when it comes a latin babyface. I don't see anyone who can fill that void.

This news will upset 3MB's five fans:

Of course, 3MB only has 5 fans....which is the same number of fans the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats have and the MLB Washington Nationals had before Strasburg and Bryce Harper.

And of course 20% of 3MB's fanbase exists in this thread!

:word::word::word:

Wait, you actually want to relive this???

I was a huge Mysterio fan back in the days. Even when I wasn't really watching, but just checking in on Smackdown every once in a blue moon, I liked Mysterio. But for the past year or so, haven't been such a big fan of his. I'll sorta miss him, but not too terribly much.

WWE is in a bind when it comes a latin babyface. I don't see anyone who can fill that void.

As much as I love Del Rio, I liked him better as a heel. As a face, they've just turned him into the same generic predictable thing. Juan La Cena.

Same can be said to a certain degree about the African American demographic. How many people know that the Rock is half Black? Unless he tells people, not many realize that fact.

I just want one match with Rey Mysterio against Triple H. It would be a damn shame if the match doesn't happen before Rey calls it quits.

One of these days? :lmao:

The deep end to the point where he is forced by Triple H to take "time off"

In other words....him being carried off on a straight jacket kicking and screaming and biting and punching.

Rey is definitely one of the best, but if it's time, it's time. He's got a great body of work to be proud of.

That's a surprise match up? What's the interest with seeing these two wrestle?

You're saying that as if Taz hasn't been horrible on commentary for the last decade.

i dont watch smackdown and i barely ever watch tna but when i do i have to sit through the stink of taz :BA

he drags down everything they do with his terrible jokes on the wrestlers

speaking of tna i also hate how they keep all these wwe jabronies but dont do anything with their home grown guys

My Rey Mysterio dream match is him vs. Cena in a proper match.

also putting the latin babyface in a feud with a racist who will most likely win the title while alberto slinks down the mid card wont get him over.

If Swagger wins the title, they might as well turn Ziggler into a face, because that's the only way he cashes in the title against Swagger if Swagger wins it.

Change his name to Adolfo Zigliara, dye his hair black (fake tan unchanged) and have him go over Swagger for the title. Two birds, one stone.
