Nell, have you ever tried to just ignore what Metallo and the others say?
...WWE star C.M. Punk appeared on "The MMA Hour" with Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com on Monday. The following are the highlights of the appearance.
-Helwani introduced Punk and noted that he received a lot of heat for having him on as a guest because some people don't want any crossover. Punk noted that pro wrestlers are doing submission holds they've picked up for MMA, and noted that Alberto Del Rio fought Mirko CroCop.
-Helwani mentioned Triple H's comments about UFC needing to evolve more than WWE. "I think that's absolutely insane," Punk said. He said every sport or business needs to evolve. "Pro wrestling has, in my opinion, a lot of work to do," Punk said. He said he's spoken with Triple H numerous times about MMA. "He just doesn't get it," Punk said. "He doesn't watch it either. I think it's just an education thing. Saying UFC has to evolve, I guess he's not wrong, but he's missing the big picture that UFC is evolving."
-Punk was asked whether MMA has hurt the pro wrestling business. "Well, it hasn't helped," he said. "To deny that UFC isn't our competition is ridiculous." He added that everything from Cirque du Soleil to television shows such as "Breaking Bad" are competition to WWE.
-Helwani asked whether it surprises Punk that WWE hasn't looked at MMA to see things they can emulate. Punk said he's a wrestling guy and he believes it is a sport. "I'm a fan," Punk said. "I would love to see clean finishes, less run-ins, and I'd like to see wins and losses matter... Those are things that are based in reality." He questioned why guys get title shots time after time when they are losing. He said there are certain things that could be tightened up in that regard.
-Punk said some days are better than others when it comes to travel. He said some top guys have busses they travel in. He said he's getting to the point where he's considering that possibility. He said he enjoys traveling and the challenge of living on the road, but he said he would like to be at home for six months just to see what it was like. He added that he would probably go nuts seven days in.
-Punk said he became an MMA fan early on going back to the first or second UFC event. He said he and his friend were hooked. He said Dan Henderson is probably his favorite wrestler.
-Punk said the last UFC event he watched live was Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez. He said he doesn't go out to find the shows when he's on the road. He said he despises Hooters, and doesn't think it would end well if a pro wrestler went to watch an MMA show with drunk people who want to prove something in the room.
-Punk was asked about the Brock Lesnar and Undertaker confrontation. He said he thinks he knows more about that situation than most people. He thought it was fantastic that two guys could exchange a glance at get the sports world talking. Punk said Dana White will never allow Brock Lesnar to get a WrestleMania payday while he's under UFC contract.
-Helwani asked Punk who he will face at WrestleMania 28. Punk said he doesn't know who he will face tonight on Raw because things change every three minutes. Punk said he would like to face Steve Austin, and joked that Austin would never duck a challenge. "As far as who I am actually wrestling
That post with all the links wasn't showing up for me earlier. The only problem I have with you Nell, is that sometimes you seem like you think there is an indie bias here and you also seem to think we're all a bunch of indie smarks.
That's fine but it gets rather obnoxious when Metallo follows me around and jumps on me for liking The Miz everytime he addresses me, and THE MOMENT I say that the CM Punk thing is getting old everyone jumps on me saying my opinion is invalid, I'm a hypocrite, and I'm just getting bored of CM Punk because I have Triple H blinders on.
Yeah that's what I don't get, the indie thing and the IWC thing. I'll tell you this though I'll a hundred Nell's over just one of some of the posters out of this thread.
to the average or casual fan....the IWC look like a bunch of angry people...there has always been this attitude from them...that only THEIR opinion matters because they've spent YEARS watching this fed and that fed and tape trading and hanging out in bingo halls that smell like pee
When in reality the only guy from the indies that most of us rally behind is CM Punk. And it's not because he's from the indies, it's because he's good and one of the best well rounded talents in the business, if not the best right now.
so much anger... the hype needs its own hell in a cell event
is a guy who has main evented last 3 ppvs with 2 wins over cena and is a 4 time wwe champ really a victim of the conspiracy lolAnd if you want to talk about holes that are going on in wrestling angles, there are much bigger holes in Miz and Truth's crusade against the conspiracy.
They've been in matches against Punk, and have attacked Punk, when obviously Punk is another victim of the conspiracy. It doesn't make sense for them to take it out on Punk.

I just find it insulting because I've been watching WWE since 1991, and usually only check out indie guys after they sign with WWE. I watch their matches on youtube to get familiar with them, I've been watching ROH the past few months because it starts airing on MyRDC soon, but I don't follow any other indies.
I wanna be the ref for Metallo vs Nell in a loser leaves the wrestling thread hell in a cell match.
I explained why my favorites don't do the same, and why their angles work for me. It was you that decided that wasn't good enough and proceeded to insult me and my opinions because I'm not proclaiming CM Punk as the greatest thing to happen to wrestling.
Probably not to good (about HHH) since working with him did nothing for Orton and anything Orton accomplished was in SPITE of HHH. Punks been well protected while Orton got fed to the King of Noses, his 40 year old brother in law, and his senior citizen father in law. Thats got to sting since everyone there has always acted like Orton was one of the golden boys. I can understand if it was the younger Orton who needed his ego in check but by WM25 he seems to have had his life straightened out and was working hard.
Makes me understand why Edge ASKED to go to Smackdown when HHH came back from his last wheel blowout![]()
It was nice to see BatOrton do a CLEAN job to a guy who who has been working hard to get better over the last few years and technically has seniority over him. Its not something HHH is particularly known for.
Hahaha, I was thinking about Wrestlemania 25 when I read about the Punk/HHH brawl too.

Oh stop that crap, I don't care if you hate Punk, SK isn't a fan either but you don't see him whinging every time someone counterpoints him. the problem with you Nell is you were exposed and didn't like it, you can write all the long ass posts you want but the bottom line is you have one rule for some guys and another for others, which is the definition of hypocrisy, like it or not.
You love to be abrasive when you shove your points at people but when a few respond you play victim, it's really simple, this thread is a community within a community as venom said, if you can't handle people calling you on things you say, then it's gonna be tough for you always.
Oh how I hated the WM25 build up.The only time Orton has ever looked good working with Triple H is the LMS match they had in 2007.
Heh! Edge always was smart, even though Triple H made him "Job on the way out"I am still sure HBK whiffed that superkick on purpose.
That is the most surprising clean job I have ever seen, makes you wonder what the plan is for Orton.....of course it could just be to win the belt back at HITC, but I get a feeling they may be building Mark for Taker's return.
You need to see that match man ASAP! As Flair and Piper said, Orton vs Triple H at Mania 25 was not the match that fitted the angle they have built.

Except Nell is no casual fan. He's on a Superhero websites message board posting in a wrestling thread that I doubt most casual fans even know exist. He's an "IWC" guy just like everybody else. Just has different tastes. If he wasn't he'd have better things to do than jump on his computer and complaining about wrestling. THAT is what the IWC does.![]()
