The Wrestling Thread: Oh Mah Goodness...Part 33

I like the idea of a walkout, but the execution of it all, for reasons mostly pointed out already, is ridiculous. Punk called it. It makes most of the dissenters look like *****es. King gets his regal ass in the middle of the ring and specifically points to someone manipulating things and Triple H not really being at fault ...then he chooses to haul ass, instead of wanting to find out who the puppeteer actually is. Booker T walks out with a slightly disgusted look on his face, but just the night before, he was cheering on Triple H for providing "street justice" against Miz and Truth, which he was calling for in between the numerous instances of "Oh, mah goodness!" "Dawg!" and "Whoa!". It makes no sense.

I about cracked a rib from doubling over when Chioda starting talking about this being the worse the refs have ever had it. I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear what Beth said.

Punk's tweet makes me think they'll attempt to offer some reason as to why certain wrestlers weren't present for the vote, but I don't want to expect too much with WWE logic at work. Reading the Smackdown spoilers brings even less sense into play. All in all, I think the whole thing comes off a lot better if it functions as a splinter group instead of this transparent collective unity (so far).
Taken from youtube , this had me chuckling :
"The crowd has just booed the entire WWE roster, cameramen and announcers and are cheering for HHH. He finally did it. He buried the entire roster all at once. This is truly HHH's finest hour."

This is just gold. :funny:
WWE officials do not want the WWE Title to be a part of John Cena and The Rock's match at WrestleMania.

Much better decision.
- After originally changing the Sting vs. Hulk Hogan singles match at Bound For Glory, TNA was planning on doing a three-way with Sting, Hogan and Ric Flair. Flair ended up injured and they went back to the Sting vs. Hogan match with a No DQ stipulation. Officials were hoping that adding Flair to the match would help with any problems that Hogan might have.

WWE's Choice for the New Face of SmackDown, Early WrestleMania 28 Plans

By Marc Middleton

- Sources report that WWE officials are looking at Sheamus to be the next big star for the SmackDown brand and will be pushing him as a major player going into WrestleMania 28. The idea is that Mark Henry, Randy Orton and Sheamus will be the cornerstones of the blue brand.

Vince McMahon has always been a fan of Sheamus but has taken more of a liking to him as of late.

Regarding early ideas for WrestleMania 28 next year, that will likely change several times, Sheamus challenging Henry for the World Heavyweight Title is penciled in.

Source: PWInsider

This is all well and good and I guess that would see Sheamus as the Rumble winner. However he is not that over as a face and really needs to get some stronger promos going, the "old country" stuff is cheesy, his promos as a heel were much stronger.

I guess Henry can fill in his time with PPV defenses before Mania against Show and Kane.....:(

So the question now is who takes Bryan's briefcase off him?

CM Punk Expected to Carry the WWE Title Into 2012, John Laurinaitis Update

- As noted before, CM Punk is scheduled to feud with WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio for the next few WWE pay-per-views and the company is getting ready to go "full blown" with his push after being surprised by recent merchandise numbers.

There has been a lot of talk that Punk will win the WWE Title in late 2011 or early 2012 and carry it into WrestleMania 28.

WWE officials do not want the WWE Title to be a part of John Cena and The Rock's match at WrestleMania.
Firstly I'm glad they've seen sense and realized Rock vs Cena does not need the title involved.

As for Punk, I'd rather he won the title at Mania but if the plan is to go into Mania as champion, I'd like to see him take it off Del Rio at Survivor Series or the Rumble as opposed to one of the lesser events, Punk winning in the Mecca would be my personal pick.

Now if he goes into Mania as champion I'd like to see him defend it via challenge against Triple H, who I don't think is going heel. The other option would be Austin, with Taker as an outside bet, I think the defense needs to be against a major name if they are going "full blown" with his push.

- Stan sent word that Monday's RAW Supershow had 36 minutes and 2 seconds of in-ring action, up from the previous week.
Hmmmm, there didn't seem to be that much promo work this week, and I am guessing most of that 36 minutes was taken up by the 12 man tag.

do you think Punk could be a contender to end the streak??

They could always have Sheamus win the rumble and then have bryan demand it be made a triple threat match.I could see that happening. Also whether as champion or challeger I would think the best hting to do at mania is have Punk go over HHH clean.I think at this point unless Jericho returns Orton/Taker is a lock for WM.

maybe have hhh go full on ego power trip and become wwe champ only for punk to be the Savior and beat him for the belt at mania

I really dont see HHH going heel anytime soon, I remember a report earlier this yr about how they planned on having Miz vs HHH at WM, and Im begining to think this could actually happen

Not even Heath Slater?
The one man southern rock band vs the amerian badass :cwink:

Yeah the old country stuff is rather corny especially considering as when Stephen Farrellyhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheamus#cite_note-Cage-2 (Sheamus) started wrestling he said he wanted to avoid the irish sterotype stuff so I'm suprised his eating potatoes and doing the my uncle fergus act.

He should stick to the Celtic warrior mythology stuff

I sure hope they really do keep the title off Cena vs Rock!

That was a crazy bump.I remember Punk's back was bleeding afterward.

The Biloxi, MS Smackdown taping did not draw well yesterday, with about half the venue tarped off. There is a lot of talk that the HHH-COO storyline could lead to everyone appearing on all the TVs going forward to help the Smackdown side draw, while the house shows would continue being separate touring groups featuring talents from both brands. Nothing has been 100% confirmed or put into motion

They need to make Smackdown live and have Punk,Cena and other high profile talent appear every now and then.I'm sure that will help attendance and ratings.

The "walking out" makes the wrestlers on both brands look like b___ches while Captain McBurial looks like a sympathetic figure. Great way to promote both brands by having your wrestlers suing the company and crying to their mothers. I am sure this doesn't make everyone crave the Attitude era?!?!? Even back in the 80's with Hogan, Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Magnum T.A, Tito Santana, etc.. Wrestlers would get attacked, triple teamed, screwed over but not a tear was shed.

:csad:

only thing i like is this angle gives ziggler and cody a bigger platform to be showcased on

What makes no sense is the faces walking out. It works for the heels cause we are supposed to think they are *****. But it does nothing for the faces but make them look weak. What makes me more mad is they knew that would happen that's why Punk, Cena, and Orton weren't there.

A great new article about the Sin Cara feud,Joey Styles's WWE.com article..

"WWE's two Sin Caras have been at war for more than ten years, you probably just didn't know it. The rivalry between WWE’s two Sin Caras, who collided like Mexican missiles at WWE Hell in a Cell last Sunday (PHOTOS), truly began more than a decade ago, ironically over the right to use another ring name. According to both Sin Caras - who spoke exclusively to WWE.com - the dispute is one neither has forgotten, nor plan to until only one Sin Cara is left standing.

It was November 1999 in Juarez, Mexico, when a multiple-time state high school wrestling champion, born across the Rio Grande in El Paso, Texas to Mexican immigrants, made his professional in-ring debut in a mask and under the name “Mistico” (Spanish for “Mystic of a religious nature”).

“All I ever wanted to do was become a luchador,” he recalled. “When I first went to wrestle in school, I looked at the mat and told the coach that the ropes were missing.”

In less than two years, this young man’s outstanding athletic ability and undeniable charisma made him a top star in Juarez. Soon after, his reputation also allowed him to leave behind government housing along the U.S./Mexico border and travel to larger cities in Mexico, where he’d further his career as a true luchador. However, the meteoric rise of Mistico came to a screeching halt in 2005, thanks to the longest tenured wrestling promotion in the world, Mexico City’s CMLL.

Founded in 1933 as EMLL (Empresa Mexicana de la Lucha Libre, or Mexican Wrestling Enterprise), CMLL (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, or Worldwide Wrestling Council) had trademarked the name “Mistico” while the teen worked for the company – something that the young man from El Paso had never thought to do. After he left the organization, CMLL gave the name “Mistico” to another wrestler from Mexico City, who made his professional in-ring debut for CMLL in 2004. This young man, the son of CMLL wrestler Dr. Korontes and nephew of wrestler Tony Salazar, never even knew there had been a Mistico before him.

The original Mistico attempted to hold on to the identity he created, competing as “Mistico de Juarez,” but that wasn’t enough to pacify CMLL. “I was soon out of work,” he told WWE.com. ”CMLL called all the local promoters and said if they allowed me to work as ‘Mistico,’ then they would no longer be allowed to use CMLL stars on their events. I was forced to change my name.”

All of this, according to CMLL’s replacement Mistico, was unbeknownst to him. “I didn’t know another Mistico had existed for two years before I started using the name, “ he insisted through WWE referee Rod Zapata, who translated his words for WWE.com.

CMLL’s Mistico went on to become the biggest star in Mexico before making his American debut in March of this year as the blue and gold WWE Superstar, Sin Cara. As for the original Mistico, he continued to work in Mexico for the country’s other national promotion, AAA (Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, or Assistance, Consulting and Administration). He also began working in the United States – a benefit of speaking both Spanish and English. Despite his successful career, however, he could not get past the fact that his previous identity had been wrongly stolen from him.

When asked if he is better than the man who took his name, the original Mistico - now the black-and-red Sin Cara - stated with conviction, “Yes, I am, and everybody knows it. I want to wrestle the impostor in blue and gold for the name Sin Cara. He took my identity, and now I’m going to take his.”

Meanwhile, WWE’s original Sin Cara (the second Mistico) is much more complimentary of his opponent.

“Many WWE fans may see us as identical because we have a very similar style of wrestling,” he said. “However, we do take different approaches to our styles. We match up very well, but I believe my pedigree and training at the hands of my father and uncle make me a little better.”

At WWE Hell in a Cell, the two Sin Caras battled in a truly unique scenario - a match pitting original vs. duplicate in several different iterations. The original Sin Cara (the second Mistico) was barely able to defeat his opponent, almost certainly warranting a rematch between the two masked Superstars.

When asked to respond to William Shakespeare's famous 1595 question, "What's in a name?" the two luchadores – once both named Mistico, now both named Sin Cara – each had the same reply: “Everything!”

They should have done this in the Hunico promo before HIAC and in video packages,But it's not too late and I'm actually surprised WWE is mentioning their past/old name and CMLL!!

I hope they have a sit-down ring segment while repeating this article But a bit extended for next week's Smackdown episode,The feud is getting interesting But they need to bring this up much more to make it personal(as it should)than just doing run-in attacks!!
