Okada and Shibata with another MOTY candidate.

Also with Phillips he shines more with Corey with anyone else. Hell Mauro really got to do great work with Bryan and Graves. JBL brought him down. I really think JBL is an overrated heel commentator. He's more annoying than anything else, like mute level at times, especially that little cry baby imitation he does. It's so terrible. Otunga is even worse. This really sucks. If Mauro and Graves were together more they could have been the new JR and King.

not to burst your little fanboy bubble, but as much as I enjoyed Ranallo - the WWE was a fun side job, but it was never going to be his priority

listen to his podcasts, he loves calling combat sports - boxing, kickboxing, MMA coming up for him

He was never going to be with the WWE long term, no matter what people want to tell themselves

"AJ Styles loves beating up John Cena and he's in heaven right now because he's beating up John Cena." -JBL, Summerslam

If you cut JBL, you have to cut Vince as well. If you have no tolerance for this behavior, you can't allow partial tolerance.

Vince is still an old fashioned shady carny at heart. Most modern corporate types would try and wipe out that hazing/bullying s*** as it would possibly lead to lawsuits and high staff turn over.

I don't see Mauro announcing wrestling again and I'm not sure of the contracts if the announcers in the UFC would allow him to do boxing and kickboxing. I would say yes since he could be used for the major PPV events only, allowing for Jon Anik and former WWE announcer Todd Grisham to do the Fox Sports Net shows.

It's a shame though I mean really who does WWE have? Tom Rich Todd Philips Brennan Grisham?

Todd Grisham hasn't been terrible at doing UFC Fights.

while you're being a smartass

Todd Grisham had a nice tenure at ESPN before leaving earlier this year to take over as lead announcer for UFC

and Coachman is one of ESPNs pillars now for SC

In the UFC, Grisham is a lot more relaxed and has a lot more freedom due to not having Roman Reigns' lover yelling in his ear every second.

I didn't mention Coachman. I'm just really wondering if there is some feeling now that they want that position to be expendable? I mean is the idea to make sure they don't stand out, so that if they leave then it doesn't matter? And if so, why would they bring Ranallo in?

Todd Grisham is not a good announcer. There is a level of grading on a curve with announcers it feels like. Well he didn't throw up on himself, I guess he is decent. Goldberg was the voice of the UFC for over a decade. He was never a good announcer. Rogan isn't even all that good, but he was clearly superior to Rogan. The majority are bad, very few are good and even less are great.

Lampley is great. Al Michaels is great. Collinsworth is great. Doc Emrick is great. Roy Jones has been surprisingly very good. Max Kellerman is good and clearly improving.

In terms of the UFC and WWE the only guys I'd classify as strong are JR (now that he is kind of back) and Corey. Both are out right very good at their job. Tom is competent but only really shines with Corey imo. Mauro was never great, but he was so much better then everyone there other then Corey and Tom he stood out.

It did not hurt Mauro that even though he was "newer" he clearly had knowledge lacking in the vast majority of these commentators, who don't even seem to know the name of any maneuver that hasn't been a WWE finisher. And then only the WWE name for it.

I think you were talking about Tom Philips in some parts there. It's easy to mix them up though, which was my point.

I agree on Jim Lampley and Al Michaels

Collinsworth is a joke, only this past season has he seemed competent

I don't like Collinsworth either.

Why, of all the guys that you could possibly try and mess with, you'd pick Steve freaking Blackman, is beyond me?

Talk about courting disaster.

I would never ever ever f*** with Steve Blackman. He's up there with Meng on the list of wrestlers I wouldn't f*** with. The story that Bob Holly told about Blackman/JBL is equal parts hilarious and terrifying.

I get flack for it but I truly enjoy Collinsworth. Aside from Gruden, he is the best color commentator the NFL has. Much better than Dierdorf, Aikman (though I do like him too), and Simms (who is just condescending as hell at times).

Also, I'd recommend watching Supercard of Honor. I mean that Bullrope match was fantastic.

I think Collinsworth is pretty great. He is crazy accurate when it comes to what is happening on the field (few predict what is coming as often as he does), and while he does suck up to a lot of players, he also calls out plenty as well.

Gruden isn't all that great either, he likes everyone and everything

IMO the best NFL broadcast team just got broken up last year

Kevin Burkhardt and John Lynch were Fox' #2 team until Lynch took the GM job

Aikman is bad, Simms is horrid and Im happy Romo is replacing him, and Jim Nantz blows the Patriots every time he calls one of their games

As if JBL weren't already exposed enough as the piece of garbage that he is, Mike Bucci (aka Nova of the Blue World Order, or Simon Dean in WWE) has said that JBL bullied Chris Kanyon over his homosexuality, and encouraged young wrestlers to do the same. Kanyon attempted suicide once in WWE, and later took his own life in 2010.

Gruden is comedy gold. Usually MNF games are s*** but if I do happen to watch, his antics keep me entertained.

JBL is that one macho jock in high school that never learned that it isn't necessary to be that way. He's 50 years old. That is way too old to be like that.

Mike Bucci doesn't sound like the best guy either, but with JBL's rep I don't doubt anything.
