The Wrestling Thread Won't Beg, But it will Ask Nicely

I don't think Miz's moveset is a problem. My boys Ambrose and Sandow don't use a lot of moves but I still enjoy their matches. I just don't buy into Miz at all. Nothing he does in his matches engages me as a fan. I'm not drawn to him as a performer.

I remember Hebner and Triple H used to do this routine at live shows. I saw it a couple times , lol.
at the 1:16 mark.

Fixed it for ya! :D

And yeah, I used to love it every time they did that. :hehe:

I always used to love when Earl would do that. These days they barely even acknowledge the ref being there.

Well done! It's nice to see a well-timed Pat Patterson joke after reason through all of the Chris Benoit jokes earlier (seriously, it's funny when it happens like once or twice a year now, but Benoit jokes hit this thread all the time; it's like when someone quotes your favorite movie so much that it's not even funny anymore).

I get why people make the Benoit jokes and think it's fine for them to do it. However it bothers me to think about the Benoit situation and instead of laughing I start to think about the shock of it all. So maybe I'm weird for doing that , but it's just how I feel.

Finally saw Raw. The segments for the two main events really got me hyped for Summerslam. This is the first PPV I've looked forward to in a long time. Punk/Lesnar and Cena/Bryan is probably the best double main even in quite some time.

Miz bores me as a wrestler. I wish he would retire already. He's the kind of guy who would make you want to watch TNA.

As for Triple H, two years ago, him being the special ref made sense as there were two WWE Champions. This time, he's doing it mainly to get the PPV bonus pay.

To me, it never gets old, but come on, the "Triple H vacating the title" joke someone made was funny though.

And Miz is not interesting as a wrestler at all. Him being a host or a commentator is much better. I'm glad I wasn't really watching wrestling when he was WWE champion.

And for who was watching wrestling at the time, how and why the hell did WWE think it was a good idea to make the Miz WWE champion?

I think it has to do with whole demeanor. He has this cockiness and goofiness about him, but neither are really interesting. Not to mention he just doesn't come off as sincere as most other wrestlers.

In short, he's just not that interesting as a wrestler.

Because he was a good champion.

I think it's more about making the Vince/ Triple H feud front and center. We saw it before in 2011.

Can someone who's not a Miz mark answer?

They needed to switch things up because Miz had been feuding with Randy while Cena was fighting Punk. Miz worked his way up through some good matches and promo work. Unfortunately they dropped the ball in making him a serious threat. He had a feud with Lawler and was a third wheel in the build-up to WM27. After Mania he started to down-slide.

Because he's good with the media and was reasonably over at the time. I'm not a Miz fan and I know Nell doesn't agree, but I think he was ****ed over as champion. He was used as a tool to further the Lawler vs Cole and Rock vs Cena storylines.

Nell actually liked the title reign though. I guess he's cool with Miz being a third wheel champion.

I think Miz would be much better suited as a GM or commentator.

Some sites are reporting that the WWE is planning to "replace" The Shield with The Wyatts as the top heel group, and that the Shield see a slide down the card.

If that is the case, I'm not a big fan.

Ok first more power to Darren, second who gives a damn which way he swings. Is it still that big a deal

Wwe won't sack him though the last thing they need is that kinda publicity. But don't expect a push any time soon.

If true, that's a terrible idea. There can be more than one upper-card stable.

I didn't see him as a 3rd wheel champion.

I saw him as a guy who stepped up his game in the spotlight and made himself relevant against the heavy hitters that were Rock and Cena.

Brave move by Darren Young, WWE can do something positive here if they simply just keep treating him exactly as they have and allow him to keep developing, any switch in gimmick is gonna feel forced and exploitive.

The bigger issue will be if him coming out exposes the "WWE Universe" as bigot filled.

Yeah, Meltzer has a huge bias for Japanese and against WWE.

There are more matches that should have 5 stars such as:

Macho Man vs. Steamboat at Wrestlemania 3

Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 12

Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena that Raw after Wrestlemania

Basically almost anything involving Shawn Michaels and Wrestlemania. :funny:

Exactly! The amount of times he's shaved .25 off is laughable.

Meltzer's biased to no end, why I never pay him no mind because there are a lot of matched WWF/WWE has had that should deserve the 5 star rating but never got it because he's just as much a mark like the rest of us.

I also found it funny how Misawa has all these 5 star tag matches and yet 80's WWF and NWA aren't represented at all, like the Harts vs the Bulldogs and The Rock & Roll Express vs The Midnight Express (To name just 2) never happened.

And for who was watching wrestling at the time, how and why the hell did WWE think it was a good idea to make the Miz WWE champion?

He got it initially as he got pretty over and he had the MITB case which they weren't ready to drop from a 100% success rate. The reason he kept it way too long is that WWE needed a patsy champion for Mania 27 as the title match was irrelevant due to Rocky.

That would be stupid, the success of The Shield has been down to the fact they have excelled no matter who they are put with and all 3 guys have huge potential. The Wyatt's are 80% gimmick so far and Bray is the only one with any real singles potential.
