I remember something like this being a topic for Mania. Basically you make a balanced (Can't be all main events) 8 match card using previous Summerslam matches. You must have a WWE, WHC, IC and Tag Title match on the card and you can't use any wrestler twice.
Obviously give reasons for you picks.
WWE Title Match - Rock vs Brock
Even though I'm a huge Bret Hart fan and don't care for The Rock, this just edged the classic escape cage match from 94 for me, I even nerdily went back and watched both the other night before doing the post, to decide. Rock vs Brock just had such an authentic feeling sports build which is hard to get in rasslin since the late 90's, and the match itself really is a spectacle showcase of two Supermen athletes with agility and exchanges uncommon for their size.
The Mega Powers vs The Mega Bucks
The main event that started it all, this was a time when tag team main events featuring big name singles stars happened so rarely that they could headline a PPV. On top of that It's actually a very good tag team match with a smooth ebb and flow between the faces and heels, then of course it has the killer moment where Miss Elizabeth whipped her skirt off and dazzled the heels, you could almost hear 22,000 jaws hit the floor in MSG, the distraction of the "secret weapon" allowed Hogan and Savage to finish off Dibiase and Andre and then celebrate with the lovely Miss Elizabeth in style! With so much charisma the arena was still buzzing with electricity ten minutes after the pin.
Unsanctioned - Shawn Michaels vs Triple H
A classic no holds barred war made all the more impressive by the fact HBK hadn't wrestled (Bar one match in TWA) for over 4 years. This is arguably the best match of their long rivalry and had a lot of original action and drama.
WHC TLC Match - Jeff Hardy vs CM Punk
One of the best ladder matches I've seen, the two styles complimented each other well and both guys were at their peaks as face and heel respectively which added some fire to the match as opposed to relying fully on the big spots. Instead they were well paced and spread throughout the match, with some neat counters and spectacular moments that had the crowd gasping.
Intercontinental Title Match - 'Ravishing' Rick Rude vs The Ultimate Warrior
This was the hardest one to choose as Summerslam has been the host of some of the greatest IC title matches of all time including my favourite between Bret and Mr Perfect. However I had to go with this one, the heat was incredible, Warrior and Rude pulled out moves and sequences you just didn't see back then and the drama built to the perfect conclusion. I still rate this as Warrior's greatest match.
The Big Boss Man vs The Mountie - Jailhouse Match
This was one of the hottest feuds in 1991 and I think most originally thought this would be a type of cage match when they heard the gimmick name, but instead it was a case of the loser having to spend the night in jail. I doubt this will make many lists but I thought it was a great mid card feud that served up a hot brawl at MSG with Boss Man finally giving The Mountie the beating he deserved in the end, great finish.
WWE Tag Team Title Match: 2 out of 3 Falls - Demolition vs The Hart Foundation
Demolition had a great 3 year run on top of the tag scene in WWF, going from heels to face and back to heels. This match was the final curtain as such and a fitting one. Just great oldschool tag wrestling with Bret playing underdog face for much of the match, Demolition working their pounding offense and the Hart's their slick tag moves, it even had some shenanigans with a switcheroo attempt using their new 3rd member Crush that was foiled by The Legion of Doom.
Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio
I tried to resist using another match from 2002 but there just isn't a better opening match in the history of the PPV in my view. Fast, exciting and full of energy that set the crowd off on the right note for the event.
