The Year 2012 (Merged)

2012 is when the little people retake earth from the Children of Adam. You silly-kins ought to know that.

Wolverine doesn't exist, dude. :csad: It's sort of sad that the only thing a Canadian can throw at me is a fictional character.

By the way: I have nothing against Canada. It's a nice place. I almost died there once, though. Good times.

Well, Canada could send Wayne Gretzky after you, but then we'ld be in trouble for high sticking... You're better off with the fictional character. :cwink:

I'm not worried about the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 or the "magnetic field" shift (though it might cause major computer problems). I'm worried about the asteroid Apophis, due to enter "near Earth orbit" in 2036. If the calculations or trajectory are off, it could be disastorous and I don't believe any government will try to do anything to redirect it.

neh, I'm pretty sure we have something that can get it out of harms way.:whatever:

It's like, the future man.

Aw man, why does it have to be before Christmas. If the world ends, I would at least like to get some gifts first. :cmad:

Any chance of postponing this?

Isn't this all based on the Mayan calendar or something? Who cares?

I bought a Superman Returns calendar, a giant island didn't float by my window.

Doesn't actually say the end of the world on the Mayan calender but rather the end of the old world, which could suggest the dawning of a new age, in other words nothing will change.

There's a new end of the world every year.

Just bring it already... just bring it.

I remember when I was like 10, on Sky News itself, it said the world was going to end at 5pm...did it ever happen? NO!!!

There was also that little, obscure "event" called Y2K. Thankfully, that didn't garner much attention.

:whatever:

I hid in a lead coated box during Y2K... just me and a bottle of Cuervo. It was surreal and I am now a survivor. Hot diggedy dawg!

Okay, I didn't really hide in a lead coated box. I partied my head off on the Golden Gate Bridge... and I grabbed some ass. I don't remember whose arse I grabbed but I do know there was lots of ayse grabbage going on that night.

That's one reason so many are pointing towards 2012. There are, however, many reasons to point towards 2012 as a possible date with Doomsday.

The Zodiac sign is also supposed to be changing during that time. The last time it changed was around the birth of Christ. The time before that, it changed around the time of Moses' birth.

Many prophets and seers from 100's of years ago, Nostradamus included, pointed to this time frame as the time of Cataclysmic events. The rising of the Anti-Christ, the Apocalypse, the death of the human race...
They ALL point to the very early 21st century.

Science and technology appear to have reached - THE END. By THE END I mean the hard part is all done. All that is left is fine tuning. The only frontiers that appear left to be conquered are 'Time Travel' and traveling at the speed of light.

Both 'Time Travel' and traveling at the speed of light are said to be impossible but... do we have anything better to do? I'll contribute this: The first thing that needs to be done is to STOP CALLING IT TIME TRAVEL!!! Time is nothing! It's simply a term of measurement!!! Does anyone actually think doing what we call 'Time Travel' is so easy that we can lazily call it 'Time Travel'!?!?!

Many argue 'time travel' is impossible because of the whole 'what if you kill your own grandfather' scenario. I like to reference televison shows like 'Quantum Leap' and 'Sliders' for how such a device could work. The only problem would be that - once you leave, you can't go back to the original world until you fix or negate everything you do in the other worlds or times. This could be a very lengthy, damn near endless, process. It's safe to say, in order to 'Time Travel' we must first develop a way to stop the aging process.

AGING, or rather the end there of. This, and hopefully this, will be what happens in 2012 or so. That appears to be a kind of important obstacle for man. That needs to be cured or conquered before we can go any further.

I don't know what exactly is going to happen in 2012. Could be anything. I don't have a feeling either way. I simply think that something large is going to happen that will impact all people of earth in 2012. Could be a meteor, could be WWIII, could be aliens, could be a miracle cure, could be an effective way to stop aging, or it could even be Bigfoot. Who knows? The point is; something on that level has to give - because I won't.
