"There was a 38 minute sequence cut from TDKR detailing how Wayne got from here back into Gotham."

Damn 38 MINUTES??? That can't possibly be right. Nolan is a very economical director, I can't imagine him shooting that much footage just to show how Bruce got back to Gotham. A few minutes, maybe, but 38 minutes??
I know the sequence he's talking about. It's 38 minutes of Bruce Wayne hitchhiking to the airport, then waiting at the airport because his flight was delayed then cancelled, then arguing with the desk agent who tells him the best they can do is to put him up in a hotel near the airport until the next flight leaves in the morning, then getting to the hotel and checking into his room two hours later after an error at the concierge desk, then watching an episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" in Turkish before falling asleep and waking up three hours later to trek back to the airport, then finally getting on his flight which taxis on the runway for an hour due to engine trouble, then getting off the plane because the ground crew needs to check the engine, then getting back on the plane four hours later, then flying to London where he waits for another three hours for a connecting flight to Philly, on which we see him watch the in-flight movie (Green Lantern, because Warner Brothers) before finally landing back in the States, where he takes a cab from the airport back to Gotham, but the cab breaks down halfway there and he decides to hitchhike the rest of the way back, so he's picked up by a trucker (played by Kris Kristofferson) who talks to him about life and they both sing "Help Me Make It Through The Night" before he gets dropped off on the outskirts of Gotham, where he sneaks back in through the batcave, stops off at the mansion to shave and shower, and goes out into the city where he finds Selina.
I mean, they really could have kept that in.

Same. I figured he used what he learned in Begins: traveling the world and his training on the ice.I didn't care about how he got back to Gotham.
I always hated the criticism for not showing that.
Batman managed to walk across the ice to save Gordon and the others. In my head, Bruce re-entered the United States, manoeuvred himself close to Gotham, and bypassed the security by crossing the frozen river. But really, it's not a big deal. I think of that part like King Kong. We never see Kong transported to New York. It's a tale of two locations, the island and the city. TDK Rises is somewhat similar. It's a story of Gotham and the pit. Bruce returns to Gotham, saves it and moves on with his life.I could only see that making sense if you split TDKR into two movies. *Then* you'd have room ( and need ) for a return sequence. As is? No. Sometimes, "I'm Batman" really is answer enough.

Why is this garnering so much discussion? It was obviously a sarcastic joke.
