I say again. It explains everything.Off-screen, there are other mutants jumping around in time (like Cable or someone) changing the timeline.

Exactly. Debating this stuff is a waste of time, IMO. It's already been established that there is time-travel in this universe and it can alter timelines. Trying to reconcile continuity discrepancies is as futile here as it is for say, Doctor Who. As long as the story is consistent within each individual movie irrespective of prior installments, I'm cool with that. Why even debate anythign in these movies then if things if drastic things are changing offscreen that is never shown?

As the 10th Doc would say, "Timey wimey."
Cool : )in that case then there's no point of them even doing trilogies or sequels. Each film should just be standalone and not pick up on anything that came before it
Why try and make sense of something that the producers ain't even trying to do, how far can this go? make up an excuse and then next film changes something else, then make another excuse and it happens again
X-Men films could really benefit from a straight up reboot. Modern day, new cast, new take. No worries about messed up continuity
It's simple:
First timeline
Origins (1979), X1 (2004), X2 (2004), X3 (2005).
Then a mutant travels back to the past, say 1913. He alters the timeline.
Second timeline
First Class (1962), Revised Origins, Revised X1/X2/X3, The Wolverine (2013), DOFP (2023).
Then Wolverine travels back to the past of the second timeline.
Third timeline
First Class (1962), DOFP (1973), Apocalypse (1983), Deadpool (2016), New Future (2023), Wolverine 3(?).

I really like this one
i think the thing about apocalypse is that it still treated itself like a prequel while also taking it in a completely different direction and while that was likely all on bryan singer probably many don't quite get it because people say oh i see what they did there with jean and logan and that explains why in the OT he has a fondness for her... well that would mean those same events happen in the OT too and i assume that can't be the case for obvious reasons
Time repeats itself. It's a river. Remember?
Certainly didn't with nightcrawler, how did the kids get into akali lake? thanks to nightcrawler, did they know who he was in X2? nope
doesn't matter how much you wrap off screen logic around it... show don't tell.

Yes, the solution is a system with three timelines. It allows to connect everything together, even the viral marketing stuff (25moments, TheBentBullet, etc).
I think the breaking point is in 1963 (when Azazel and Tempest are murdered by Project WideAwake, a team appointed by President Kennedy to study the mutant question. Other mutants are killed by the population. It's 'The Summer of Hate'. => Mystique goes crazy => Apocalyptic Timeline ≠ Original Timeline).

Of course. It's not a prequel. The timeline has been altered for the second time. But some events are doomed to repeat themselves... in a different form.
Technically, Apocalypse is only a prequel to the Days of Future Past ending with Wolverine waking up back in the future.

when X-force gets made contunity is likely going to get worse.i would say very likely olivia munn reprises her role in that which is set in future since they are introducing x-23 in wolverine solo film to be new wolverine In X-force.
