Rise of the Silver Surfer THING/Michael Chiklis DISCUSSION

Wow, in all those representations of the Thing, spanning decades...from the 60's, to the 70's, to the 80's, 90's and into the 2000's...I'm noticing a prominent characteristic...kind of like how you can look at a thousand different Batman's, from the 40's, to the smiling 50's, to the campy TV show, to the Neal Adams 70's, to Frank Miller in the 80's, the Michael Keaton, the Val Kilmer, the animated show or the Christian Bale and always see some version of the little pointy Bat-Ears......

Hmmm.....he's always orange, rocky-looking...and, there's something else...what is it?

:whatever:
But but emotion

That assumption is entirely based on strength levels. Hulk may be at his mightiest when enraged, but if he's like most people I know, the madder he gets the stupider and more careless he also gets. But Ben Grimm keeps his composure (and humor) under just about any circumstances, including battling an enraged Hulk.
It's always been a draw in the past, but under the right circumstances, I give Ben the edge. The only time Hulk ever defeated him outright was when Ben was distracted by Alicia's concerned voice in FF #112.

Personally, I don't think we'll ever get a definitive outcome on this one. :yay:

I think its pretty clear the Hulk is stronger, Hulk has performed feats Ben would NEVER be able to, plus, Hulk really has not limit to his strength, the madder he gets the stronger he gets so his only strength limit is how angry he can get.

lol geez are they still advertising hostess?

No, I am old.

No, I am old.

There was a "tip o' the hat" to the old Hostess fruit pies in a Torch/Spidey book within the last year or so. It also featured the Spideymobile.

I can't remember if it was the MK FF4 book or something else. Anyone remember this issue?

I know it has already been posted but thank god we did not get:

lol You guys remember Heroes World? Almost wish it were still around lol

Of course Hulk is stronger but the Thing beats him sometimes with brains before the Hulk get to strong!

The fruit pies were mentioned in the "SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH" mini-series from a year or so ago. I think it was a 5 parter, with each issue done some what in the style of the decade for that number [i.e.: #1 was a '60's style, #2 a '70's style, etc. - so the pies would have been in #2 or #3]. Paul Smith did the covers, and they were great! I ended with Spidey having to reveal his identity to the Torch to save the day, and then they were all one big happy family [with Peter, MJ and May spending the holidays at the Baxter]. Good stuff!

what I wanna see in the next FF movie is the Thing using more muscle

just a little

^ He didn't say just the kids. However this franchise is not as hard of a PG-13 as X-Men, Spider-Man, etc...It's quite a bit lighter.

I made this one quite a while back now but at least here the proportions of the Hulk & Thing are about right:

For anyone wanting to see a rematch with Ben getting some payback I have started on one...may be while before I get it finished tho' (too much seasonal cheer and morning afters to contend with atm).
Oh man, I haven't seen that in years!

Version 2

Other than the lips being visible in version 2 I think it's a vaste improvement.

I don't see that as an improvement as much as simply an evolution of the character as he involved in look in the comics. To me the improvements have been in the area of comfort for Michael.

I mean more of a overall design improvement. I don't think the explanation of Things enlarged brow will be in the film. I do understand what you mean though.

True....but they could put a small explanation into why he's maybe bigger....rockier....etc.

I think JAlba means the thing doesn't look like a shorty, stocky guy with bad skin any more. He looks ASTONISHING!

And as far as explaining the mass gain, Reed explained it best in the first movie when he said their powers are still evolving.

Since Thing's role is shorter in this movie, does that mean Alicia Masters role will being shorter also?
