things that didn't annoy you until within the last decade or so?

Airport Security was non existant. I'd be surprised if those metal detectors were on.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

ok, i have one that is annoying under certain circumstances...nowadays they make comic book pages out of glossy , (relatively) shiny paper, and if you want to sit in the garden on a sunny day and read them, the sun always reflects off them, causing glare on the pages, and they kind of melt a little too, as opposed to normal paper.
ie today's cb industry assumes we all stay indoors like morlocks with our books.

OKAY GUYS!!

Instead of arguing that things didn't exist before so to ten years ago, I think what most people are trying to say is the "extent" to what those things have become within that last decade (or so). Like airport security.

In my initial post I was referring to people talking on cell phones, but if people have been increasingly talking in theaters from my point of view, that would be relevant too.

Skip precise history and rant in the name of pop culture etc. and have fun! :yay:

If we're not bound by the newness of these annoying things and can talk about stuff that's technically been around for decades, then what's to differentiate this thread from the Things You HATE thread? I mean, road traffic didn't start to annoy me until I started to drive in 2003, but I'm not gonna list it in this thread because I'm aware that traffic has been a problem for decades.

An annoying thing that didn't exist ten years ago was when a thread was started and then someone thought it would be awesome to make the opposite of that thread. An I like the Sun thread is predicated by an I like the Moon thread.

We're keeping score?

Alright, let's do this.

4chan
YouTube "celebrities" (numa numa guy, justin bieber, leave brittany alone 'guy') and fake "celebrities" (Kardashians, Hiltons, Heidi and Spencer)
Wedding dress shows
Midget shows
Cake shows
Twitter (including the words "tweet" "retweet" and "tweeted")
Using "Fail" as a noun and complete sentance.
Sexting
People bragging about Hybrids
Video game "instruments"
Atkins diets (10 yearish)
Fake 3D movies
Finger mustache tattoos
Skinny jeans
Bloggers who think they are journalists
A living Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, and Jason Todd
post-mortem Michael Jackson fans
Toy guns that look nothing like guns
Tea partiers

FTW. :up::up::up:

(although I disagree with a living Hal Jordan and Barry Allen. Jason Todd I can understand (Tim Drake was the best Robin:hoboj:)

"sparkly" vampires and abercrombie&fitch poodle-werewolves

(Blade came out in '99 I believe, and the last badass werewolf movie was "Wolf" with Jack Nicholson.)

OKay

I screwed up the thread's title

Can a mod please change it to "things that didn't annoy you until within the last decade or so?"

EDIT: Thanks!!

Didn't this just get canceled?

No love for Dog Soldiers?

I hate that the History channel has non history shows like Monster Quest, Mystery Quest, Ancient Aliens, Ice Road Truckers, Apocalypse PA and others. Then again, ten years ago they showed nothing but Hitler documentaries. Hitler this and Third Reich that.

Oh yeah, and that annoying little kid that "doesnt tolerate geekiness" in the car commercials. Yes lets buy a new car because the 6 year old thinks its lame.
