Things That Make You Go Hmmmmm: The Return of the Arsenio Hall Show Thread!!!!!

In some ways, the proliferation of TV channels has lessened the chance that he might be cancelled early. Gross ratings are no longer the key anymore, its about targetting demographics. Look at Conan and Kimmel.

And he'll get the African American demographic easily.

I suspect the entire non-white demographic is his for the taking.

Anecdotally speaking, growing up as Chinese and Canadian (twice removed, lol) Arsenio was insanely popular among Chinese, Filipino, Indian and Middle Eastern youth in my area.

At least he's not on NBC so that he can be screwed over by Jay Leno.

He'll probably have a respectable percentage of an older-skewed audience who remember him from the 80's/90's too.

Jay Leno is gonna be replaced by Jimmy Fallon shortly. But I have a feeling Arsenio will get every audience he had tuning in once again.

Unless Leno retakes the show from Fallon ala Conan. We'll have to see if the new Comcast overlords allow Fallon to take over permanantly.

NBC moving The Tonight Show to New York makes it a bit harder for Leno to take it back.

Harder but not impossible. And they haven't done it yet.

Arsenio returns tomorrow night!!!!!!! Anybody gonna watch?????

I'm definitely going to watch. In my neck of the woods, it comes on a 10 pm, so it's not really competing with any of the other talk shows for me.

On Mondays, I may have to flip back and forth between wrestling, but I am looking forward to it. Arsenio was a major part of my youth.

Tonight's the night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who's gonna watch???????

In 1 hr., Arsenio Hall returns to late night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arsenio's on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did. Most of it.

Off to a decent start, though I think he pushed the nostalgia angle a bit too much. Hopefully the show gets back into its original groove.

I watched and enjoyed. It was a little shakey but he pulled it out cause Chris Tucker isn't best interviewee in the world. So hopefully he'll get back in the groove. As far as Jay Leno goes, I believe this is why Arsenio came back. Since Jay is leaving, Arsenio, once being a regular on the Tonight Show, figure if I can get my viewers back and a portion of Jay's maybe this will work out. He knows that Jay's audience is different from Fallon's audience--and we know Jay's cool w/ it cause he doesn't really want the Tonight Show to succeed or be as successful after him.
