Comics "Third" Summers Brother

Psssht.

We all know the third brother is Logan.

He's the third brother, the father, and the grandfather all rolled into one.

Interesting Fact - With his mutation entirely switched off Gambit has brown eyes.

Gambit has brown hair like both Chris Summers and Cyclops, and additionally he has red eyes, which many people think are comparable to Scott’s, yet it’s only Cyclops‘ power signature that is red. The eyes behind the visor are normal looking brown eyes, as can be seen various times when Cyclops‘ powers were negated. [Uncanny X-Men #150]

thats actually weird/cool. :oldrazz:

Thats actually wrong. His eyes are naturally black and red. They wouldn't disappear just like Angel's wings wouldn't under the same circumstances.

Why wouldnt Angel's wings disappear? Those are his mutation and with the x-gene turned off or suppressed they should go away

Because they're a physical mutation and body parts won't blink in and out of existence.

Wolverine's claws didn't fall out when he was depowered by the High Evolutionary. Nightcrawler's tail didn't fall off then either. Beast didn't have his muscles falling off any of the times he was inside a mutant damper field.

Wolverine's claws were laced with adamantium, thanks to Apocalypses' manipulations at the time and that was not part of his mutations. When he pulled them out, he felt pain as he didnt have his healing factor to counter it. Nightcrawler did lose his tail. Check out X-men 99 as that clearly shows him before and after the switch and theres no tail present in the depowered Nightcrawler. As for Beast, he's had alot of years of working out and building up his muscles. I wouldnt expect him to just shrivel up as it wouldnt be incorrect to say that some of the muscle mass he was shown to retain after being depowered was his own naturally. I dont beleive he was shown to be super strong during those times.

Yes, his HF stopped, but the claws, which are part of his mutation, didn't fall out. The addy wouldn't have stopped them from falling out since theres nothing linking them to his body except mutant tissue.

Thats odd. I've seen mutants with physical mutations not lose parts of their bodies during a power suppression field. They've lost use of the extra limbs, but not lost the limb itself.

Part of his mutation is to have abnormally large hands and feet. If all mutants lost their physical mutations, his hands would've either shrunk or fallen off.

they didnt fall out bc the adamantium was keeping them in place. They had nowhere to go. If he didnt have that attached to his bones, the claws might likely have fallen off.

Kurt even grew 4 fingers to make up for the ones his mutant body didnt have

Heres a pic of Hank during that. He looks pretty normal to me. Definetly not abnormally large

Can't we just chalk it up to the MU's B.S. physics?

Temporarily gone or something? :D

I would like the Vulcan thing retconned out. I don't think it adds anything to him as a character, and he has an interesting origin and story with Xavier betraying him and all. Heck they already write the story so that Cyclops won't acknowledge him as his brother.

With how many people don't like the character..i think he will be reconned...into someone who lied and said he was a Summers..he could be an orphan who heard about Scott and pretended to be his brother.

oh I hoep not. What a waste of the past 2 years

They need to just kill him and be done with it. A retcon would be stupid, but as a whole Vulcan is a waste of ink... so better to erase him.

His claws aren't held to his skeleton by adamantium. Just the muscles and sinew a normal bone would have.

Ok, theres definitely a precedent for physical mutations disappearing. Which is odd, because I remember Gambit being depowered at one point and keeping his black/red eyes (though they stopped glowing).

he really is....thats two failed attempts at bringing in another summers brother.....here's hoping Havok finds a way to dispose of Vulcan forever

Gambit has worn contacts to hide his eyes. They were brown.

(I remember this from Evo, that he wore contacts to hide his eyes, but I'm not sure whether that's true of his comic character as well)

I'm on CanCan's side of this, however. Physical manifestations of the X-gene don't disappear, or not that I recall.

well it varies from mutant to mutant and not all will have the same reaction. In Generation M, Beak, lost the phsyical manifestations of his powers. The beak, talons, and feathers were all gone. Thats a great example right there.

I guess "But Beak sucks and anything remotely related to him should be ignored" wouldn't qualify as an argument, eh? Oh well.

In my opinion, if it's only the power gets cut off, the DNA setup is still the same but not active, the mutant should stay the way (s)he looks, just can't use his/her gifts.

that was the case in the High Evolutionary switch but M day didnt just cut off the power, it removed the X-gene. With that gone, there was no DNA makeup of the physical power which accounted for why Beak's face was normal and not like that of a bird

if the x-gene was totally removed that means that mutants like Kurt, Beast, and Gambit would look normal and have no powers.
if their powers were repressed then, yeah, they would look the same just not able to use their powers.
so what marvel universe did that pic take place??? (website didnt mention).

Not necessarily, there were several recorded instances where mutants lost their powers, but some of the physical sides of the power didn't disappear. Stacy X lost all her pheramone powers but still kept her snake like skin, there was a mutant who turned into a dragon who lost his powers to be able to fly but kept the dragon body and ended up crashing to his death, and there was another who's mutation was a extremely long neck, but when she lost her powers that allowed her body to compensate for the extra length and weight, she kept the long neck but not the ability to really stand that and her neck snapped under her own weight. All in the Generation M mini. Later explainations behind it, like in Endangered Species I believe, this was done to show how out of control Wanda's powers were, since she didn't completely reverse the effects of all mutants when she caused the Decimation.
