The Dark World is certainly a movie I can imagine that some reviewers won't like. I hope it gets a fresh rating to help it make money for a sequel but other than that I don't care that much.

back up to 80% with 3 positive reviews added :)

cant wait seeing it tonight

wouldnt Box Office play a bigger role in TDW getting a sequel than its RT score?

Now that I saw the movie, I feel like it should get a rating of 57% to 65%.

80% is too high for this movie.

Note that I said that the fresh rating could "help make money" for a sequel. I don't think there's much risk of there not being one though so it's not a big deal.

Considering your rankings for previous MCU movies are pretty low, I can't say I'm surprised by your feelings on the movie. At this point, I'm just so over RT scores and critic scores. Nothing really matters except for how the movie works for each individual.

Thor 1 is still my favorite MCU film and Iron Man 3 is in #10 in my Marvel rankings. So I don't know what you're talking about.

#4 - Thor
#5 - The Avengers
somewhere 6 to 9 - Iron Man
#10 - Iron Man 3
#11 - Incredible Hulk
#14 - Captain America
#15 out of 29 movies - Iron Man 2

I haven't ranked Thor 2 yet.

I imagine that the tomatometer will stay high, but I think the RT average rating will remain in the 6s or drop to 5s. (with a metacritic in the 50s or low 60s)

No one seems to hate this movie, but no one really seems to love it either.

---------

Whereas for something like Man of Steel, you have a large group of people who love the movie (5/5s) and a large group of people who hate it (2/5).

Thus why with wildly different tomatometers, their RT average-ratings are still pretty close together.

The most useful part of RT is to find funny blurbs from reviews. I liked this one.

"Think heavy-metal Lord of the Rings. With wormholes. It's completely mad and kind of awesome."

"A perfectly enjoyable exercise in superheroics, and much more fun to watch than 'Man of Steel"

Hmmmm :P

That doesn't say much. Watching Man of Steel was like watching paint dry...while getting beat over the head with a hammer.

LOL!:woot: Honestly, THAT should be the DVD cover blurb for MOS.

Anyway, 30-6 (83%) currently at RT.

I really like this review...

Enormously entertaining superhero sequel that delivers thrills, laughs and emotion in equal measure, thanks to a witty script, superb performances, thrilling action sequences and assured direction from Alan Taylor that gets the tone exactly right.

Worth seeing? This is a Thor-oughly (sorry) enjoyable, emotionally engaging sequel that delivers thrills, spectacle and laughs in equal measure. Highly recommended.

seems like there's more thor puns this time around :S

I don't get why people care about the tomatometer.

A movie with a 100% tomatometer could still have an average rating in the 6s.

It just looks better for a film, not many people even pay attention to the average rating.

What does that mean? It deserved 75% good reviews, and 25% not? If you think it is a good film, why would it deserve any negative reviews?

Really

I said I thought it was a good film, not a flawless master piece give me a break.

RT meter goes up, RT meter goes down:

Here's your explanation!!! Dr. Gangrene is responsible for it all!

It really doesn't make any sense to say that the movie deserves a tomatometer at number X because you graded the movie at X.

What you should compare the tomatometer to is how accessible/divisive you think the movie is. Do you think everyone will like it, even if they just think it's 'okay' (C+)? Well then you'd think it deserves 100%. Do you think that some will love it and some will hate it depending on taste? Well then you'd think it deserves 50%. Etc.

Good point, but you shouldn't take things literally, when I said TW deserved a 75% you and I BOTH knew what I meant.

Right. It means you think it deserves a 7.5/10 average rating ;)
