It just looks better for a film, not many people even pay attention to the average rating.

Really

I said I thought it was a good film, not a flawless master piece give me a break.

Good point, but you shouldn't take things literally, when I said TW deserved a 75% you and I BOTH knew what I meant.
I know that like many others here, you are reading the RT meter in an incorrect manner.

There are two scores. The critic number and the average number by the way of the reviews.

I don't get why people care about the tomatometer.

A movie with a 100% tomatometer could still have an average rating in the 6s.

The tomatometer is definitely better than the average rating. That's because the tomatometer forces critics to grade movies on a very clear, two grade scale. Is it good or bad? Simple choice.

When it comes to average rating that fails because people use different scales, and even when they use the same scale they define the various grades differently. There are those with a 1-5 system where 2 is decent and all bad movies are bunched up under 1, while there are those with 1-10 that can even vote a 5/10, or even higher, as rotten. Completely different allocation of scale property.

When you combine opinions it's very important that people are talking about the same thing, so that's why having them basically answer the question "was it good or bad?" is a more intelligent method.

That said I remain with the same opinion as I've always had, that critics don't change the quality of the movie. In the end the only one that can judge that is you. I didn't like MoS but I said several times on that board that it's rotten score means nothing. That goes regardless if it happens to agree with your opinion or not. The result is never as important as the method used to get the result.

Up to 85%..lets hope it keep getting higher to create a good buffer before the US critics inevitably..

It *could*, but its unlikely. Its also irrelevant, since when people look at the RT rating, they aren't looking for the same info as the average rating gives. A high RT rating doesn't necessarily mean the movie is great. . . but it does mean its extremely likely that you'll *like* the movie.

And realistically speaking, the higher the RT rating, the better the movie, since more people liked it, despite their differences in taste.

85% but the average fell to 6.5/

I've always found the average rating on RT to be worthless. Not all reviews (positive or negative) are submitted with ratings so the site can have a lot of reviews not counted in the average.

The most important aspect of a film is to be "enjoyed" so whether it's enjoyed on a 3/5 level or 5/5 it was still ENJOYED. So the tomatometer is a lot more important than some of you are acting.

Keeping in mind that Thor1 stayed in the 90's for a long time until it was something like 60 reviews counted or something like that before it dipped significantly to the high 70's where it currently rests(honestly never seen anything like it in a big film), I'd say we still have a long way to go before we see where TTDW ends up. Though I am hoping it stays it the 80's.

It's funny that I KNEW the tomatometer dropped just because psycolossus posted in this thread.

That's just sad, I hope I'm not the only one noticing this.

Well thats fine despite your catty post, even if it went up to 90%, I would have still posted it. After all this is the RT watch thread.

You missed including the Ghost Rider films and Punisher War Zone.

Or the best comic book film ever, Scott Pilgrim. :D

Wow, The Amazing Spider-Man is at the same as Iron Man 2?? Didn't expect that! I'd compare Iron Man 2 to Spider-Man 3.

Also didn't expect The Wolverine to be below those two. I also thought Batman Begins and Thor would be higher. Other than that, I'd say I pretty much agree with the list, even though I think Spider-Man 2 is a little overrated.

Not included in RT but the reviewer of the British Newspaper The Daily Mail Matthew Bond gave the film 2/5 stars.

When do the North American reviews start rolling in? Tomorrow? I know they usually have an embargo until the week before release. Thor1 did.

After US premier I guess. So yep, tomorrow evening.

Americans poo everything so the rating is going to drop a lot when those come out.
