Well we must all admit that the MU had been altered severly from dissasembled to house of M, and now w/ civil war. Is there a place for thor is this new world, or will the sentry completly take his place. I think that when Thor returns, he will play a pivotol role in the Civil War I also cant see Thor working for the Government so maby we will get to see a thor v sentry afterall.
I would have thought that Civil War would be impacting more on the boards than just the one topic about it. Or does Civil War not really that important to yall.

Why would Thor work for the government? I thought his relationship with the government was streighned at best. In fact, the only time he could have been considered as working for the government was back in The Avengers before they became U.N. sponsored, and even then he was constantly at odds with the suits from the defense department who were pushing The Avengers around.

Like all "foreign nobility" characters like Black Panther, Namor, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, Thor has traditionally had a pretty low opinion of first-world governments; as King Thor, he found all of the atrocities those in charge have committed against their own people and wouldn't trust them with any sort of registration. And also, his sense of honor would be pretty offended by the idea of the government betraying their heroes like this and treating them like criminals. I can't imagine him supporting the registration.

Thor would probably consider the government beneath him, but since the registration affects himself and those he works with he'd have to take some side, I guess. Since I don't see him working with the government and since he's always favored Cap over Iron Man, I think he'd side with Cap. Their views are the same and Cap is the one human being that Thor trusts completely and without question.

Thor's probably going to come back looking not too different from his Ultimate counterpart. So yeah,he'll probably be a government lackey.

Uh, his Ultimate counterpart was completely anti-government. So how does that work out?

Yeah. Ultimate Thor only works with the government because it helps saves lives. Alot like 616 Thor's reason for working with the defense department in the early years of The Avengers, really.

I said I cant see thor working for the government, just for clarification.

I honestly might drop all of my Marvel comics in protest if 616 Thor ends up turning into Ultimate Thor. There is no worse way to bastardize the 616 character, as far as I'm concerned.

Especially since Ultimate Thor isn't even a government lackey. Anyway, while I think the differences between Ultimate and 616 Thor are a bit more superficial than they seem, I do agree that Thor should remain as he is in bother universes.

Please do. Then we would only have to hear your whining in the DC boards.

Well, whatever. They'll still probably make him like Ultimate Thor since Thor needs to be ''kewl'' and ''badass'' even though 616 is fine.

But, why make Thor like Ultimate Thor if Ultimate Thor is supposed to be a new take on Thor based on the changed times? I mean, Ultimate Thor's whole point is "what if Thor grew up as a human in today's world and how would it effect him once he regained his memories?"

616 thor is way more badass than ultimate. If they bring him back they shouldnt change him. If anything they should restore him to his golden-age level of power where he was godblasting mountain sized dark god collectives and was capable of being "as fast as the lightning he commands" and such.

Hi! Im Purple Man. As you all know im a big *****e bag for no apparent reason. Thank you and have a nice day.:)

His Silver Age power level was all over the place, though. He had those advantages, but there was that time where he was trapped under a simple bank building. Shouldn't a guy who can hold his own against the Hulk be able to lift a bank? Although I admit, it was pretty fun seeing what wacky new powers Mjolnir would demonstrate in each issue. ;)

i just re-read the king thor trades. awesome story, we need thor back, and not teenage thor as was rumored.

been a while corpy ;)

I've gotta sit down and read through the King Thor saga from start to finish again myself. I think it may actually be my favorite Thor story ever, even beyond the Simonson stuff. Jurgens really did something special with that story.

so really, it's a question of which Thor returns at all, and at what point, which will determine his place in the 'new' Marvel Universe?
