Thor: Love and Thunder | Official News and Speculation Thread

I doubt it. To release the official trailer plus tickets on sale on the same day would undoubtedly break the internet but probably be counterproductive and I don’t think it would be a good marketing move either. That type of thing didn’t happen with SM:NWH, DS:MOM… I don’t think it’s something Marvel does either. Releasing a trailer and then a couple of weeks later a TV Spot for the “tickets on sale” makes the most sense to me.

No to mention that if something like what you mentioned happened, it would coincide with Ms Marvel’s D+ Debut and totally overshadow it.

Also I’m sure Marvel wants this trailer to play in front of Jurassic World 3(June 10th) because that should be a pretty big deal as well and attract a big audience.
I tend to think tickets will go on sale around June 20th. That would be two weeks after Ms. Marvel's debut, as well as right after Lightyear opens. Disney tends to wait till after one product debuts to put tickets on sale for the next one.

So I rewatched the teaser to check how much each character is featured and while it’s still very much Thor centric, it’s also interesting to get a glimpse on who could be getting the most screen time/relevance in the film. Character appearances in totally different scenes:

Thor - 14
Korg - 5
Mighty Thor - 3
Guardians - 3
Valkyrie - 2
Zeus - 1
Miek - 1
Toothgnasher & Toothgrinder - 1

Also had a look at a few different planets they seem to be visiting/worlds the story takes place.

Earth
Olympus
Sakaar
Ice planet *
Alien planet **
Asgard ***

* Where Thor and Korg find Falligar
** Thor’s meditation spot
*** Flashbacks

These behind the scenes images can be a little bit hit and miss but this one is actually pretty good I must say. :yay:

A few take aways, I’m guessing Thor will get to know the Mighty Thor’s identity fairly early on and it should be a interesting dynamic between a super-powered Jane Foster and Thor himself. Also I see that Jane also got Mjolnir’s freshen up treatment regarding her overall look which should add as a contrast to when she reverts back. Good stuff.
They look great together. Proper warrior couple.
Yeh absolutely. I don’t think we’ve seen a power couple of this level before, not that I can recall anyways…

Thor: Love And Thunder: Jane Foster’s Return Is ‘A Real Mindf–k For Thor’, Says Taika Waititi – Exclusive Image

Thor: Love And Thunder: Jane Foster’s Return Is ‘A Real Mindf–k For Thor’, Says Taika Waititi

Break-ups are hard. You know how it goes – things turn sour, you go your separate ways, work through your emotions, and brace for the possibility that you might one day bump into your former flame in the future. For Thor and Jane Foster, it’s even more complicated. Because while Natalie Portman’s former love interest is back in Taika Waititi’s Ragnarok sequel Thor: Love And Thunder, a lot has changed since we last saw her in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. (OK, technically the back of her head popped up in Endgame.) When she returns, she’ll do so not just as a renowned astrophysicist, but as The Mighty Thor – a woman worthy enough to wield Mjolnir.

As you’d expect, it won’t be an easy change for Chris Hemsworth's Thor to get his head around. “It’s been about eight years,” Waititi tells Empire. “She’s had a whole other life, and then the love of your life comes back on the scene, and is now dressed like you. It’s a real mind**** for Thor.”

While the exact circumstances around Foster’s return in the MCU remain under wraps, the notion of her wielding Thor’s hammer was first explored in Jason Aaron’s acclaimed comics run The Mighty Thor back in 2015. “I didn’t know we were going to use the storyline of the Mighty Thor character until we started working out the actual story,” says Waititi of Love And Thunder. “I was writing and it was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be kind of cool to bring Jane back into the storyline?’” In doing so, the director didn’t want to tread familiar ground. “You don’t want Natalie coming back and playing that same character who’s walking around with science equipment. You know, while Thor’s flying around, she’s left on Earth, tapping her foot going, ‘When’s he going to be back?’ That’s boring. You want her to be part of the adventure.”

And since this is a Waititi joint, you can expect his trademark offbeat humour to course through Jane just like her new-found lightning powers. It was a challenge Portman was more than ready for. “Natalie’s really funny in real life,” says Waititi. “She’s kind of goofy and has got a great sense of humour, and I don’t think that was exploited enough in the first films.” Bring the thunder.

I’m looking forward to Ms Marvel which looks a lot of fun. L&T tickets are absolutely day 1 priority!

When Taika talks about how Jane's had a "whole other life" in the last 8 years, I wonder if we're gonna find out that she got married to Keith Kincaid like in the comics?

Holy hell. Natalie looks incredible. She's always been a stunner, but combining her insane beauty with those arms is just :ilv:.

John Campea said it best when he said that a child of Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman would break the universe with its sheer sexiness.

I don't think they're gonna waste any time with Thor trying to work out who Mighty Thor is, since even when she has her helmet on (like in the teaser), you can clearly see Jane's eyes, which is different to the comics where her eyes were concealed. Thor would immediately recognise her. Not to mention that the mystery element made sense in the comic run because it actually was a secret. There's no point doing that in the movie since EVERYONE knows who's under that helmet.

Besides, that gives Taika plenty of scope for comedy gags revolving around Thor still trying to protect Jane from everything like she's still a fragile mortal, and Jane being like: "What the hell!?".

Maybe Tony and Pepper in EG? But as you say, Thor and Mighty Thor are in a different stratosphere of power compared to Iron Man and Rescue.

Count me as another who loves the first Thor movie even to this day. The score is Marvel’s best and I loved the approach to the characters and their world. Asgard actually felt like a godly place in the first movie. They tried to humanise it too much in TDW.
The First Thor has always been my favorite.
Kenneth Branagh.(Oscar Winning Screenwriter!)
We only had him once in the MCU.
But he did such an excellent job that, after he left, we didn't get Good Thor Stories until,
they hired Taika Waititi (Oscar Winning Screenwriter!)

Yeah adding those arms on to an already beautiful woman who is playing a superhero on screen is next level amazing.

Haha.

Was I the only one who was SHOCKED at the identity of The Mighty Thor, let alone, how her story ENDED?

I'm just happy that his costume in this film doesn't look cheaply made like it did in Ragnarök.
