Let the discussion commence!

As long as we get Executioner and his last stand in this film, I will be happy. That is all. Make it done, Marvel :woot:

I agree but Surtur needs to be in this movie.:hubba

Not sure about his acting ability but Jason Mamoa would make a perfect looking Skurge.

He's Aquaman so... That would be awkward.

All I want is a Thor film that takes place 80% off of Earth.

Hello to this Speculation Thread. I hope we will have lots of fun over the next couple of years.

I have high hopes that Thor gets the movie he truly deserves with this one. His own Winter Soldier so to speak

I'm excited about this movie after reading Feige's comments on it "revitalizing Thor's franchise". I hope to see more of the other Asgardian characters like Sif and the Warriors 3 and I really hope they get a director who's just as passionate about Thor as the Russos are about Cap and Gunn is about GoTG.

I think Surtur will be the main antagonist, but I do hope Enchantress will finally be featured. If Enchantress does make it in I wonder if Lorelei will be mentioned, AoS set it up where Loki wanted Sif to capture her unharmed.

Surtur portrayed a la Tim Curry in Legend would more than make up for Meh-Lekith

I just feel disappointed that instead of a film that teased out some of Surtur (which titling the 3rd film, right or wrong, hints at his inclusion) that instead we got what we did in TDW. If ya'll loved that movie, fine, but for myself, that adored the first THOR, it was a deflating mess and not in any way shape or form what I wanted from a Thor sequel. Surtur and a Ragnarok adaptation of any kind sort of needs some build up (if we are getting Surtur).

So excited for this! Things I'm hoping for

1.Surtur
2.The Enchantress and Executioner
3.More warriors three and Sif
4.A lot less earth, pretty much entirely off would be great.

Hey, a nice shiny new home! :)

With the subtitle for this film being Ragnarok, which comic runs do you guys want to influence the film? There have been several "Ragnarok"s in the book, and a lot of Asgardian time and effort was spent delaying the Twilight of the Gods.

We have:
Thor Volume II #80-85, Oeming's tie in to Avengers Disassembled, which had Rune Thor, the destruction of Those Who Sit Above In Shadow, and the "death" of every Asgardian.

Thor Volume I #273-278
This had the death of Balder (one of my favorite covers ever, with Thor holding Balder like a pieta), mortals in Asgard (Red Norvell), etc.

Thor Volume I #349-353
Walt Simonson's "Surtur Saga." This is a biggie, and the one I think will influence the film the most. It has Loki, Thor, and Odin teaming up to stop Surtur, and is the culmination of a lot of long building plot threads. It's really a definitive part of Thor's history, and very Ragnarok-esque.

Thor Volume I #380
Thor vs The Midgard Serpent, cursed by Hela with brittle bones. Not exactly Ragnarok, but a lot of mythological aspects of Ragnarok are referenced and incorporated. (Also, for those who haven't read it, it's a beautiful issue that can stand on its own.)

Other possibilities:
-"Ragnarok" is the name of the Thor Clone... the less said about that the better, and I hope that this film has nothing to do with that.
-Wasn't there a story in the Ultimates where Loki brings an army from the 9 realms to attack earth or something? I'd stopped reading the Ultimates by that time, but I remember seeing artwork from it online.
-Something completely new, not based on a storyline from the comics (like The Dark World).

I'm sure there's some that I forgot. What aspects of Ragnarok from the comics do you want to see incorporated, combined, or ignored for the third Thor film?

Finally, the new forum! I'll spend most of my days here, until AoU is out!:)

We need to finally see Enchantress as well

This is why (although Thor hasn't had the strongest outings) I think he has the best villain potential of the original Avengers. There are a lot of fun different characters they could use.

I'm also still hoping for a Warriors Three One Shot that maybe uses Lorelei as a villain or something like that.

Someone want to give me a quick fill-in on who or what Ragnorok is and what villain featured prominently there?

Ragnarok is the ''twilight of the Gods''from the Nordic mythology; it's their apocalypse. They're destined to die in battle against Surtur, the most powerful of the Fire Demons, and then return to repopulate the world. Asgardians live in this endless circle of death and return.

As cool as it'd be to see Surtur, it would be annoying if we NEVER got the Enchantress as the main villain in one of these films. We could have had that in TDW, but instead we got the blandest version of Malekith and the Dark Elves ever. I think that having Surtur, Enchantress, and The Executioner all in one movie (oh and Loki to).
