Feats & Power Displays in Thor: Ragnarok

Damn! I just love this opening. Indeed, it's the greatest. From the music to the flight scene with the dragon, I can't choose a favorite moment.

Btw, the gif with Thor opening the dragon's mouth is awesome!

Another amazing strength feat that people forgot to point out, Thor has more strength feats in Ragnarok alone than in his entire appearances in the Pre-Ragnarok MCU (4 movies).

True, although his most impressive one of all is still his feat of crushing the Iron Man suit in Avengers, which potentially puts Thor at over 1,000 tons in strength. This video (around the 11 minute mark) explains it well:

Yeah, he does! They definitely got him right this time!

Where does ripping apart space ships or body slamming the INCREDIBLE HULK rank in his strength feats?

You know, one of the things that I was sad that we never got to see was Thor being able to open his own portals with his hammer like he does in the comics and other medium.

I'm guessing they wanted to keep any and all inter-realms transportation limited to the Bi-Frost (for the most part) and probably thought that it would take away Doctor Strange's (on film) signature ability to open portals as well.

In any case, I had almost forgotten on how powerful Thor is until this film came out. I hadn't realized on how much the character was written to held back for most of his previous appearances.

Given his established power level, it's now hard to imagine him fighting alongside most of his fellow avengers since anything that should give him a great physical challenge would/should be able to kill some of his weaker teammates (i.e. Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, etc.)

I knew MCU Thor would probably never open a portal one his own using Mjolnir after the first film. They placed sooooooo much emphasis on the bifrost being needed to travel between dimensions in that film, I've given up hope on that a long time ago.

However, all will continue to be well with me as a fan if Thor is able to perform a god blast in IW & A4 and show more of his weather powers like tornadoes (thank you Thor 1), hurricanes. or even just an awesome thunderstorm.

What exactly is the body slam scene? I've re-watched the fight a few times and I'm not noticing it. Did I miss something?

Since we where talking earlier about Thor vs Hulkbuster and how that would turn out here is something very interesting i found out. Ultimate Thor fighting against the Hulkbuster. At the end of Ragnarok, Thor's armour looks very much like the Ultimate Thor.

In this story Thor is going on a rampage because something that happened to Valkyrie. He is in what looks like some sort of berserker rage and is fighting several avengers while Iron Man goes and get's the Hulkbuster to fight Thor.

Oh okay so she was indeed knocked unconscious, I wish they would've shown her laying unconscious in the film.

So.if you wanna be technical, Thor won their throne room fight since he knocked her unconscious. :hehe:

Finarfiel is gonna kill me for this post lol.

Calm down. I've seen the fight several times, and there isn' one. The problem is that you spin/distort things to Thor. I also find that funny. :)

Give me some examples of when I spin and distort things for Thor.

Don't just talk out of your backside, show me some proof.

So it seems Thor's lightning is above bullet damage.

Nice.

Funny how black extension of her power never appeared.

I think the script also says she was bloodlusted when she appeared on the bridge something that we also didn't see at all.

Hmm at one point Thor was holding that dragon's mouth open with one hand.

That's a huge strength feat.

Fight is on youtube, and has been. I must have watched the fight 50+ times. Thor doesn't bodyslam Hulk at all.

The scene you may be referring to is when Thor is choking Hulk out, Hulk jumps backwards, slamming Thor into the ground on his back, but Thor didn't release grip, and Hulk struggled, Thor shoved him off. At first glance, it looked like Thor may have bodied him, but he 100% did not.

and as far as Thor's lightning being ineffective against Hulkbuster, hell to the no. The lightning that shredded the undead Asgardians totally destroys Hulk buster's arms.

The lightning that KO's Hela? Sure, it may get partially absorbed but that lightning bolt was like 8 feet wide. If the suit doesn't melt or explode, it is utterly destroyed, and Tony is dead.

Lol yeah it just seemed weird that Hulk would jump so low into the air, how did he think a jump that low possibly hurt Thor.
