He's tied with Ron Frenz as my favourite Thor artist. Also,He's my #1 Avengers artist!

Precisely. This is why they had to make the Hulk a CGI creation instead of finding a Lou Ferrigno stand-in. Not that I would necessarily want Thor to be totally CGI, also. But I recall in the film "The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen" where they gave Mr Hyde fantastic muscles, which were either CGI or some kind of fittings made to look like muscle (like the Thing in "The Fantastic Four"). I wouldn't be against something like this to make the movie-Thor appear more on the scale of an incredibly powerful-looking individual similar to the Hulk.

You seem to be labouring under a false assumption, that the excesses of a few crappy artists are somehow the norm, and those exaggerations are what they should emulate on film.

However Thor is not like the Hulk and should not be compared: Thor has been (mostly) drawn down the years as big, but not inhumanly big (google the work of Jack Kirby, John & Sal Buscema, John Byrne, Ron Frenz etc, for examples).

As such a buff tall actor like Chris Hemsworth fits the role perfectly. Going to the lengths of CGI or body distorting prosthetics to accommodate a few poor renditions of the character does not.

Tricon, I just.....I just don't get it, man??? Hemsworth looks like a realistic Thor. If I have to trade decent acting for sever steriod addiction, I'll take the decent actor. You seriously want somebody that looks like Triple H as Thor???? It's absurd. That Buscema art that was posted is the ideal Thor and thats what Hemsworth is looking like. He looks like a God, not a steroid junkie.

Actually,BigThor,Thor wenet toe to toe with the ''merged Hulk'' who was disguising himself as the maestro. It was the same Hulk, having the same strength level.

Well that's pretty lame since normal Thor can go toe to toe with Hulk

I shake my head at inconsistent writing...smh

Does this look like Chris Hemsworth to you?

Your argument was invalid once you put 90s art up.

There's many different versions of Thor out there & I believe more than one of them could have worked. All I know is I like what we got!

Ok now I think you are just trying to be funny because this is a very inaccurate portrayal of Thor's size. Whether you know it or not, Thor is usually around Hemsworth's size in most of his appearances in comics.

This is a more accurate portrayal of Thor - looks about the size of Hemsworth to me

That 90's artwork is so bad. I'm so glad that's not what we're getting in this movie. I'll take Hemsworth any day over some WWE wrestler. I mean, come on.

Yeah I agree, Thor is more than just a bulky "meat head"

In my opinion, when a human sized character does superhuman feats it looks cooler than when a giant sized character does them. Besides, Thor is a "god" so his strength doesn't just come from his muscles

The Hulk is just a man affected by gamma rays, Thor is a freaking God, in fact he's the God of Thunder, which means in reality he could call down a lightning bolt and blow the Hulk off the face of the Earth!

Of course they won't do that, but that's the reality of a man going up against a God!

Think it's kinda obvious what some are concerned with and justly so:

Just how powerful will Thor really be in this movie?

I think the answer is obvious though no one seems to be saying so....

He'll be as strong and powerful as the budget for this film will allow.

Expect the usual throw or slam into a rock, wall, building, etc. with the character busting through walls, etc. But what most really want to see--which lets face it "is what most want to see"--is the over the top stuff bought to life on the silver screen aka, the Spidey and Doc Ock fight scenes and the Hulk and Abom fight scenes.

The larger than life spectacles that make us smile like little boys reading the Hulk and Thor duke it out from panel to panel. No one wants to see a lame as all hell, half-ass budget induced battle---and yes we want some gratuitous feats of strength as well.

I hope to god we get a major league slam-fest worthy of Thor.

Anyone else shuffle back and forth between the ComiCon reel and the teaser trailer?

Man May 6th feels so far away.

Thegameq, you hit the nail on the head!

I'm not so much concerned about the Avengers movie as I am about Thors own movie. This is the Mighty Thor (I still think that should of been the title of the movie) and he should be the mightiest character we've seen on the screen from Marvel!

Shouldn't they know that and spend the appropriate amount from whatever the budget is? Then again maybe they did because that strike on the ground by Thor is pretty darn impressive!

John Buscema :yay: Easily among my top 10 favourite artists (along with his brother Sal).

Yeah.... he had an interesting Kirbyesque style.

His cover art was always bettern then what was inside though. I kinda place him right in there with Sylvestri.

Jim Lee is my all time favorite artist period. Art Adams was also brilliant,

My favorite Thor image. I have mentioned elsewhere that if I ever get a superhero themed tattoo it'll be this pic:

And the award for dumb idea of the week goes to............

Why don't you keep your posts to polite disagreements instead of insulting, snide comments like this one.

When your idea is as stupid as yours you deserve it.

Yep, the biggest factor on Thor's strength level is the film's budget. I fear that Branaugh is going to focus too much on the plot and not enough on Thor's strength & action scenes.

Although I think 150 million dollars is enough to give us some amazing fight scenes & impressive feats of strength (atleast some vehicle throwing).

Me too, I hope Thor's fights have the fluid complexity of Spider-Man 2's fight scenes with the length of The Incredible Hulk's.

Spider-Man vs Doc Ock was the most well choreographed superhero fight scene ever in my opinion. Thor's fights should be like that except on a much larger & destructive scale.

On the concerns regarding feats of strength and battles, I would wait until we see a second trailer before getting too bothered about it.

Seriously, I don't remember Spider-Man 2's trailer showing much of the Doc Ock fights, or Spideys big feat of strength in stopping the train, and TIH's first trailers showed us nothing of the Abomination fight.

Now Ang Lee's Hulk debut trailer did show us a feat of strength, but unfortunately that one worked against it at the time due to unfinished CGI (the infamous Superbowl 'Tank Toss' that was met with a ton of criticism).

And as has been noted, the Hammer strike we have seen apparently destroys the entire planet. No mean feat at all.
