Thousands rally for the Jena 6

I was talking to a friend about this today at work, and we both were in total agreeance. Number one, the kid that got beat up had nothing to do with the noose incident, so that needs to be dropped from any discussion, reporting on the beating itself. Two, as has been pretty much agreed on by everyone, all 6 of these kids should be charged with assault and deal with punishment that their crime brought on themselves. When it comes to the noose incident, that's where people should be spending their time protesting, get the school board to actually do something about it. I suggest temporary (or permanent) expulsion from the school and mandatory tolerance classes (if they cannot be charged for a hate crime, which I think someone mentioned earlier that they cannot be due to age).

I'm with deadite....People need to be educated on the fact that just because someone is a different color than you, doesn't mean that you are any better than they are, or vice versa....

I graduated high school 11 years ago. I saw plently of fights in high school, as well as in junior high and grade school. None of them involved the police to either calm things down or to deal with the people in the fight.

We all have different experiences.

But if the inital incident, the hanging of the nooses, was dealt with accordingly- the person or persons being expelled from school, then the school would have been much better off

I totally agree, but would like to add that the school will also be better off if the 6 all get convicted of assault.

Bump it down to simple assault. For the kids that will be facing their first offense, it'll be 6-12 months of probation, anger management classes, and a month of community service. When the terms of the probation are met and the kid stays out of trouble, it'll be expunged from their record

Am I the only one who thinks this whole thing got blown out of porportion? It isn't uncommon for a district attorney to offer up charges like attempted murder in order to force a plea to a lower charge (like assault). Why do I get the feeling that was the case here, then media ****es like Al Sharpton caught wind of a kid getting charged with attempted murder for an assault and blew the whole thing out of porportion?

You could very well be right.

ok iv just read through this thread, and i'm getting a racist vibe off of Super Ludacris, you might not be one, but thats just the vibe. Super, do you think that the kids that beat up the other kid, should be punished correctly by the law?

He's not racist at all! Honestly, I feel what he's saying because being black myself, I was outraged at this as well. Honestly, if they would have punished the black kids, even the one who has the very troubled past, wouldn't have a problem with it. But punishing them as adults with attempted murder!?!
AND THEN........the same dudes that pulled out a gun wasn't charged with anything?! You would have to be very blind and niave if you don't see racism in that!

^I think he is just by the amount of stuff and what he was posting. I got the same feeling.

It has nothing to do with him being racist. He's outrage, just as I am. How would you feel if that guy got his ass whooped and they gave him a charge of assault and battery just for him defending himself...........and he was facing 5 years in prison? Excessive? yes it is! And I'm glad he isn't being charged with anything at this moment, but to give those kids 20 years in prison over a teenage fight, when this ALL could have been diverted had the racist principle or whoever had suspended the white kids for the nooses before anything interuppted is dead wrong.

^I am not saying what happened was wrong, but he sounded to me like the kids should just go free even though they beat the crap out of an innocent kid.

No one's innocent in this trial. That little prick who hung that noose committed a terroristic threat that could and should land his ass in jail. Those six students committed an act of vigilante "justice" and almost killed that little prick. Then you've got that hick ass jury. I saw screw everyone.

The kid that got beat up had nothing to do with it though:huh: They attacked the wrong person. And yes, the kid(s) who hung the nooses should get some form of punishment for aggravation or some sort of intent charge.

It feels like we're right back in 1968 again. Jesse Jackson is marching for equal rights in the south. The US is in the middle of a war that it has no business being in. And the country is split right down the middle.

Good God, Didn't we learn anything the first time?:whatever:

If some of the mayonaise society in here justifies the noose hanging as freedom of speech then clearly not.

.....seeing as how signs and songs and catchy tshirts dont mean crap to people with actual power

Mayonaise society? Funny, if I were to post something about the chocolate society, I am sure I would get banned. Yet, plenty of remarks can be made in a derrogatory fashion about whites around here with no consequence.

Sounds like you're race-baiting, like the morons Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. They must be your idols. Pathetic. NO ONE IS ****ING SAYING that the nooses are any kind of freedom of speech. However, its much less severe than the violence perpetrated by the Jena criminals. If those brutes can't respond without violence, they should be locked up like the animals that they are.

My question is this. Why do a lot of black people rally behind other black people regardless of what they do? It happened with O.J., Tookie Williams, Michael Vick, and now these Jena criminals. It's a legitimate question, and I'd like an answer.

My opinion is this. The Jena 6 are criminals. They did the crime, and they need to do the time. Had it been whites beating up ONE black, it would be lynching and/or a hate crime. But these black people beat up a white guy and now people are rooting for the perpetrators? It's absolutely unacceptable.
