Three DC Universe animated movies slated for release in 2011 announced

Looking forward to All Star Superman and Batman Year One. Green Lantern, however, I really wish it was a sequel to First Flight and not a anthology. They did that with Batman and Gotham Knight is their worst movie to date.

Yay for All Star Superman!

Will they ever do Final Crisis!?

Most likely will be getting all of these. :D Sounds pretty awesome to me!

So, inevitably there will be cuts to the original All-Star Superman story. You just cant fit twelve issues worth of story into a 70-75 minute and expect the whole thing to stay intact. So I'm guessing...

The whole Jimmy-Doomsday thing is out
The Clark Kent in prison with Lex chapter will be cut or at least shortened

Probably a few other things. Whoever is writing this has their work cut out for them, lets hope they give us a good one.

I hope year one is just like the original with hookers and corrupt cops included.

Corrupt cops, I'll bet they'll stay. Hookers.... I'm not so sure. Fingers crossed, though.

I wonder who will voice Batman in Year One will they go with Conroy or will another new actor join the ranks of voicing Batman

I hope they dont cast Conroy. As great as he is, it's time to move on. It's Year One, give us someone a bit younger.

I don't want to move on at all, Conroy is still being cast as Batman in many things.

But they should have someone who can voice him a bit younger.

Clark seeing Pa for the last time will probably be cut. :(

As long as they keep casting him in Superman/Batman movies with Tim Daly, I'm cool with it. Otherwise, I dont mind giving other actors a chance.

Unfortunately. That was one of my favorite issues too. :csad:

For All Star Superman, I think every story is really cool and I would love to see them all in animation. I hope they include the one with Luthor in the prison.

That's good news!

The DC Showcase compilation is slated for release this year on the 9th November. It will comprise Superman/Shazam: The Return of Black Adam, The Spectre, Jonah Hex, and Green Arrow.

Bruce Timm posted this on Toonzone's DC forum in response to a complaint about the double dip:

no, it's how we can afford to do the dc showcase shorts AT ALL

like it or not, making cartoons costs money....the revenue generated by the shorts as "bonus features" on other films simply doesn't cover the cost of making them...the "double dip/compilation/extended edition/exclusive 20 minute anchor film" format was the only way we could monetize the production costs...and even THAT strategy is an economic roll-of-the-dice -- the jury's still out on whether or not the showcase project is something that's profitable enough to justify making more

it's not like warner bros. is sitting there wringing its hands, chortling "okay, we made a gazillion-jillion dollars off the first go-round of the shorts, let's figure out a way to get the suckers to buy them AGAIN, heh heh heh!"

it's too early to tell if any of this is going to pay-off -- frankly, i'm just grateful that WBHV was willing to take a chance on the initiative, because, honestly, they really didn't need to....but the bottom-line is, if the compilation doesn't sell well, it's pretty much a guarantee that we won't be making any more "dc showcase" shorts, it's really as simple as that
His reference to "extended edition" seems to confirm the rumor that the previous shorts will be extended on the compilation. Moreover, the compilation will reportedly be sold at a price point a good bit lower than the movie releases. So, okay, consider me assuaged.

If it's at a lower price, I'll consider it. Most likely, I'll just get the single disc.

GL's light can i get a link to that post?

Batman Year One could be great but I don't like the idea of them cutting epic stories like All-Star Superman. it's in good hands with Dwayne McDuffle but it will never be as good as the comic chopped up. I haven't been able to really enjoy any of the adaptations that have done this.
