Thundercats are coming!

Just give the makeup work to Rick Baker, and the CG to ILM or WETA. The rest just requires decent actors and writers. And a director. Baker actually attempts to make live action characters that remotely resemble their cartoon counterparts when making these types of flicks so I would have faith in him doing this.

I don't much of anything about Thundercats besides what it is. I think it could be done, ya know...They'd need a substantial budget aside for all of the CG and makeup/prosthetics...It's just a big risk here since Thundercats has lost a lot of its following..

Honestly, I don't remember too much either. I know I loved the cartoon as a kid, but honestly, I saw some recently and it was terriblly funny. With lines such as "But he looks different than us, how can we trust him?". However the cheesiness will be toned down considerebly so I am looking forward to this.

lost following? Thundercats is still loved unlike star wars, which is in definite need of a vacation from our lives.

If done right, the thundercats story could become an epic film series. It will be done wrong though because most of the time they just miss the magic of the show with these movies.

Creating a humanoid cat with yellow skin and red hair is harder.

****ing Mumra used to scare the everloving **** out of me.

He still does.

Awesome news,I wonder if some of the characters will be CGI.So any chance this movie can come out in 08?

The characters have to be CGI in my opinion for this movie to work. I loved the cartoon as a kid, but not sure how good the movie will be. It can work of course. There can be many stories and battles to work with, but I just dont feel like it will be done right.

Mumm-Ra scared my sister because everytime he spoke he had strands of spittle in his mouth.

The toys based on the movie better be freakin' awesome. I used to rock some Thundercats in day care. Then this kid stole my Panthro and I pushed a bookcase down on top of him.

I still hate that SOB.

I just want to see some character designs. After that I'll make my judgements. :o

dosn't the first post say its a cgi animated movie????

"It's Thundercats, ho! at Warner Bros. Studio has optioned a script by tyro scribe Paul Sopocy to turn the popular 1980s animated series and toy line into a CGI-animated feature."

CGI is the way to go. Costumes would nearly definitely look awful.

what? and you have a 300 avatar which makes this doubly puzzling why you'd believe that.

CGI as in a CGI animated feature, not a live action film heavily utilising CGI.

bah, what's the difference anymore...

Mum-ra would look really cool live action on the big screen. But the thundercats. I'll most likely laugh my ass off at how silly they'll look.

CGI in live action films can often look **** and unconvincing, even in the biggest budget films. I don't think the ThunderCats would look too hot either in costume or CGI enhanced within a live action film. They could easily be made to look good in a CGI animated feature though.

Ninja turtles looked mighty fine in live action if you asked me... and they're naked.

I'm sure the cats with the right make-up and prosthetics and maybe some actors who can embody the role like arnie did conan, and it'll be gold... but I don't have high hopes for this anyway...

I agree. Even today, the first TMNT movie still holds up. I'm all for human actors in costumes and prosthetics.

hmmm he-man and thundercats

WB is going all out on 80's toon movies, i'd rather see a he-man film first but i'll watch both

Its seems news has broke that its not live action and is now animated.

Whatever the format, I'm going to be pessimistic and believe that it'll probably not be all that good. It's just easier that way.
