Ok, bare with me on this. Alot of directors that we never thought would do it have filmed comic-book adaptations. Like Nolan, I'm sure alot of people dind't think he would film Batman and do it so well. Well, I was watching Beetlejuice the other night and was thinking. Tim Burton made the first ever Batman mvoie, and it was good. But in some cases hes not the best choice of director for Batman. So if Burton were to make a adaptation of a comic-book, what should it be? What would like to see him do? Opinions are welcomed (and mandatory)

Not a comic, but I was dissapointed he never got to make a Harry Potter movie.
Sandman (and even moreso, Death) would probably be right up his alley.

I hope he stays away from CB movies.

& I didn't like his version of Batman.

Same here.

I used to read some of those freaky horror comcis form the 80's that I dont see too mcuh of anymore. I he could dig those up he could a series of short scary tales. Like the monster girl having a birthday party with her accepting family and then she gets mad and kill them anyway. It actually gave me chills.

Personally, I LOVE his interpretations of Batman.
But yeah, he probably wouldn't work for lighter toned superheroes.

If Tim Burton never does another comic book movie again.... it will still be too much.

Burton would need a comic that fulfills his feelings and visuals as a filmmaker. Batman was so good it has influenced the later comic movies. His Superman could have interesting but nothing like the traditional Superman for sure.

Nolan did. :o

How about Howard the Duck? I think Burton's Howard would be awesome! Or Man-Thing? Old Marvel Monsters would be great if done by Burton! The stories were like classic sf/horror of '50s!

Even if Nolan didn't, I don't think he would have made it public.

Back on topic, I think Burton could probably do The Spectre, or maybe Martian Manhunter.

But he made public he did like it.
Agreed. But what I meant is that it looks like on top of being a great director, Nolan is also pretty diplomatic. But anyway, I'm sure he really liked B89, and it definitely opened the door for his superior Opus IMO.

You mean that no matter what he said he was lying? You should back that up. I don't think diplomacy is lying/saying the exact opposite of what you think.

I didn't mean he was lying, I'm sure he really liked it, what I meant was that I don't think he would have made it known if he had disliked the film, it doesn't look like it's his personality and it wouldn't have really served any purpose other than maybe anger fans of B89 (like I said unnecessary).
But anyway I don't know him that well, we used to hang out during BB and then after TDK, not one single phone call anymore, nothing:woot::cwink:.

That's because he got too much fame and money. Believe me.

Mars Attacks! Sure, it's not a comic book, but it was a trading card series from the 50's and those can be looked as similar to comic books. Burton did a great job on Mars Attacks! I think.

As for Batman....yes, it had it's major flaws in relating to the comic book, but overall, it was still a great movie in my opinion...and Returns was good too. But Burton has said over and over on this topic, HE'S NOT A COMIC BOOK FAN! So personaly, with that said, if he's not a fan and doesn't "get it", I don't want to see him do comic book movies.

I'm not sure I really want to see Burton tackle another comic book movie but I might be interested in his take on Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Wait a minute. He's not a comic fan, allright. But that doesn't imply he "doesn't get it" - nor has he said so. On the other hand, being a comic fan doesn't mean you're going to make a good comic book movie. Burton did read Batman comics though.

Tim Burton would be on my short list to tackle Grant Morrison's version of Frankenstein. Obviously Frankenstein is near and dear to Burton, but I also think it's clear that he doesn't want to tackle that story directly.

i think his batman was the best we got I can't stand bale as batman. i also wish his superman came out staring nicolas cage.
