Visually, Guzmán (even down to his prosthetic teeth) is pretty accurate to Addams’ original drawings....The only one I hated was Guzmán as Gomez, though he might somewhat look like Gomez, what a frikin useless no presence, drip of a character. Gomez (both Astin and Julia captured it) is supposed to be eccentric, outrageously passionate, and enthusiastic about life...
Yeah Pugsley for me was the biggest errorAlso Pugsley was the original Dennis the Menace/Bart Simpson before either of those existed. Should be the embodiment of mischief fun, They made him a sad ineffectual wimp.
That seemed to be the norm once the 90's movies and television show came out.Yeah Pugsley for me was the biggest error
Guzman was meh, but could be okay with some development
But the direction they went with Pugsley was just completely counter to how the character is usually portrayed
Xander returned to his hom planet....
I didn't think it was overbearing. I think it was downright awful because the only chemistry Ortega had was with Meyers. And I think Ortega probably agrees that going with a very conventional love interest for a character like Wednesday is a bad idea. They didn't even write it like Values, where the relationship was very Addams. It’s been claimed that season one had a kind of CW-ish romance/love triangle subplot. And TPTB (especially Ortega) have said this trope would be avoided in season two. By my reckoning, however, the S1 romance stuff was never overbearing or distracting. To the degree that Wednesday and Tyler seemed to have a predictable connection, this was nicely subverted by the Big Reveal. And the Wednesday/Xavier pairing, because of circumstances, never developed much beyond friendship. For S2, I’m fine with Wednesday being her own person — not defined by her love life. But IMO, that describes S1 too.
I liked the idea, but neither the writing nor the On screen Chemistry made it work.I didn't think it was overbearing.
