Tim Burton Developing ‘Addams Family’ Series, 'Wednesday' Starring Jenna Ortega

Never been so excited for a new season in a LONG time.

However, having to wait for part 2 of this season before we see Gaga is criminal!

The fact they've already got season 3 green-lit is amazing!

Seems Wednesday is doing the one per season story arc which is good.

I hate "mapped out" seasons because it's more often than not they are cancelled before their pre-planned ending, assuming they do have one and aren't just making it up as they go along.

A happy medium is plan for each season with a conclusion, not leave it on a cliffhanger for the next unguaranteed season or realize you wrote yourself into a corner making it up to whatever ending you thought you had.
Could be worse. Could be Stranger Things "I'm really a movie franchise disguised as a TV Show".

However, during a recent chat with Collider’s Steve Weintraub for Wednesday Season 2, showrunners and series creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, revealed that they’re rather content about fully immersing themselves in the world of Wednesday and the Nevermore Academy — at least for now. According to Gough:

“It’s not a priority at the moment because, as we just said, it’s how do we get Wednesday back faster than we did in Season 2? So, we kind of went right from finishing Season 2 to jumping right into developing Season 3. So, it’s sort of all Wednesday all the time at the moment.”

Tim Burton directed the first and fourth. His were always the strongest from last season (let alone the viral dance episode).

Okay, first episode down.

Alas, poor Xavier. He died on his way back to his home planet.

Ortega and Myers continue to be standouts. Ortega has some wonderful new stares for Wednesday. Steve Buschemi is having too much fun, even if his character introduction did not go over well for me. Intrigued by Billie Piper's character. I worry that Bianca's set up at the end of last season may be tossed aside for other plots. Which sort of goes into my main concern.

I enjoyed the Addams when they showed up. I however, do not want them to become regulars on this show. Adding Pugsley would have been fine, but keeping Morticia and Gomez, with their own big plot, feels like overdoing it, and threatens the show to drift from Wednesday. Which, I admit, I liked when the first season gave focus to other Nevermore students.

Good start, imo. But, I have some concerns going forward.

Didn't love this season as much as the first one, but I still had a great time.

Ortega and the rest of the Addams family cast were great as always. I loved the addition of Grandma, played by the wonderful Joanna Lumley. I initially found new character Agnes annoying, but she grew on me. Steve Buscemi played a great slimy villain with a goofy charm. Was great to see Christopher Lloyd in this. Next season please get Anjelica Huston in there.

The focus wasn't as tight storyline wise as the first season was. I remember finding Pugsley and the pet zombie side plot kind of dull even though the zombie story eventually went somewhere. Same with Bianca and her mother. I am already bored of Tyler and his Hyde antics. It doesn't even look like we're moving on from this next season. I was happy to see Principal Weems back as Wednesday's spirit guide. Great actress. Enid and Agnes' little dance routine was no Wednesday season one dance in terms of iconic, but it was really well done I thought. And getting an origin for Thing, never saw that coming. That was awesome.

I am looking forward to seeing where season 3 goes with the hunt for Enid and Wednesday's Aunt Ophelia seemingly being alive and Grandma knew all along.

I've got two episodes to go and it's been a solid and fun season so far.
I gotta say Jenna and Emma were both utterly fantastic in episode 6.

Breaking up the season into 4 episodes/4episodes was stupid. Its still short either way.

I think the season was ok. Was it worth the wait of 3 years? no. Gagas appearance was quiicckkkkk.

The biggest highlight to me was joanna lumley as Morticia's mother. She looked GREAT. A welcome addition to the mythos.

And like I said in the last post - the biggest thing I hate about Nevermore is that it has so many students and....majority seem so normal. To me it should be a much smaller and tighter private school with weirder/quirkier people.

I enjoyed the season. Part 1's focus on resetting things from season 1 was annoying. It also makes me doubt how solid the season 3 hooks in the finale will be. And overall, the construction of the episodes leaves a lot to be desired. If you are not an Addams, it is a coin flip of how much you will be in an episode. That it still seems to apply to Enid as well is beyond frustrating.

Bringing in the whole family this season was a mistake. Sure, bring in Pugsley for the school. But even with a slight reduction in cast, they are too much, and draws focus away from the school. And make no doubt, I do enjoy these versions of the Addams, but they take up screen time that weakens the rest of the cast.

I love Agnes. Yeah, I'm annoyed they kind of got rid of the Wednesday and Eugen friendship dynamic, shuffling him off to Pugsley. But goddamn, do I love her addition to the Wednesday and Enid friendship. And given the actors age, can feel confident that the producers are not going to act on any shipping desires there.

Also, Enid continues to not the coding allegations. I genuinely do not care about the main ship this show has, but Enid needs to be gay by the end of this show.

Ortega definitely had a lot of fun with episode 6. Had some fun memories of the Mask of Zorro in episode 3.
