Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

It'll be shot in blue and grey filters. Depp's Sweeney would have looked very odd in direct sunlight off a hi-def camera (which we never saw because it was all shot inside). I'm not worried about the look. I hope this forces Warner's hand to release official stills of all the major characters, or at least Barnabas, because of all the silly comments under those photos.

Also is that supposed to be Victoria next to him? I want to see the whole family's portraits soon because I'm tired of waiting for a trailer.

That's not how I expect him to look but I don't think he will look that pale throughout the whole movie, it could be because it's daylight, I dunno.
then why is her skin looking normal

Man with Depp looking like that, I see another Alice in Wonderland scenario here. $$$$$

I can't imagine Depp looking THAT pale when the official stills/footage comes out. At least, I hope not. I love the costume, but the make-up seems more extreme than it needs to be. I guess we'll all just have to play a few more months of the waiting game.

I'm still holding out hope that that's just his daylight get-up.

I have never watched the source material, but I read that Depp's character has to wear makeup when he goes out in the daytime. Is that true?

I can't remember but that would be a feasible explanation. Depp looks really silly though , I lol'd.

the dark line around the cheeck and lips are IMO proof that its not just for daylight.

Burton likes to use pale skin with dark painted shadows on the cheeks. and he also likes dark lips.

I have never seen a single episode of the source material... so frankly I don't care how faithful Burton is to it. I'm here for the movie and the movie alone.

Therefore I have no preconceived notion for style or tone... I love the suit, cane, glasses, hat and the slickly black hair.

The make-up is a tad too strong and to reminiscent of The Mad Hatter for me... but I can definitely wait for an official pic.

looks like this guy

Has Tim Burton officially said that he's never going to have a lead in a movie that isn't Johnny Depp? I respect their collaboration, but I have a theory that Tim Burton recognizes his own formula and sticks to it for marketability. His movies now just feel a lot more "safe" than his early stuff did.

Lol.

Maybe Depp'll end up looking like Cruise's Lestat with proper lightning/filters.

I haven't seen the source material but I know that Barnables is a vampire so either it could be that he needs to put up quite much makeup to go outdoors or this is after he's awakened to the 20th century judging from the clothes he's wearing.

I can see that. Burton and Depp need to do something more out there. I'm looking forward to this film, but the past couple of films don't seem to have done much. Sweeney Todd was the exception because that was new ground for both. Maybe they've just come tot he point in their careers where they're just having fun and already are satisfied with the more risky stuff they've done in the past.

Depp has made the Rum Dairy, Rango, and Public Enemies recently, so I won't believe he has quit on us quite yet.

Johnny Depp isn't involved with Frankenweenie, Burton's other 2012 film. Neither is Helena Bonham Carter.
