Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

It may be make-up with him walking outside. However, one wonders how he's hiding from Victoria and the Collins clan that he's a vampire if he wears make-up for no apparent reason during daylight hours. I'm hoping again this pushes Warner's to release some awesome stills very soon.

the dark line around the cheeck and lips are IMO proof that its not just for daylight.
I don't think so - even a case of extreme sunblock/daylight make-up would still be Burton-ized, imo.

I dunno, I'm still pretty worried about this. If could do it like, say, his short film Vincent and make it dark--very much like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, but still retain the complete Dark Shadows look and mythology.

Have you watched any episodes of that show lately? I mean really watched it? It's kinda goofy actually. Which makes me even more intrigued to see what Burton has planned.

I have yet to see any of the series. I haven't even spotted any of the DVDs, really. I'm kind of hoping there's going to be a new DVD compilation to promote the film.

Depend on what you mean, as the series is quite long. I have the first three volumes starting from where Barnabas appeared.

Oh, yeah. Not an entire series set. I just mean certain episodes that relate closest to the plot of the film, or introductory episodes for certain characters.

I used to watch reruns on the SciFi channel (before that SyFy nonense) when I was young and thoroughly enjoyed it. The dark tone of it intrigued me, mostly because I was obsessed with the Bela Lugosi Dracula film and found a vampire soap opera-type to be awesome just based on the concept alone. Indeed it had a little quirk, but I don't recall 21st century Willie Wonka being there. :whatever:

Hearing Danny Elfman's version of this will be awesome...

Full cast photo

Depp looks just like Frid. This look couldn't be further from those set pics. I like.

Helena looks very similar to the queen. blue make up around the eys and orange/red hair

They nailed that ****, really. It was a very campy, gothic show and it's got that kind of offbeat Burton vibe going, especially the kids.

Here's a scene that was always pretty cool with Barnabas and Burke at that pub.

I looks very similar to the 60's cast cause the same style of the costumes.

I have such high hopes for this movie, even more so after seeing that cast picture. Man, I hope it doesn't disappoint.

whait a second. Depp has prosthetic fake ears? nice

I thought we should wait before making judgement after the set pics. After getting Into Dark Shadows I can see they totally recreated look of the series.Johnny Depp Is
becoming barnabas Collins.Unlike some stars Depp can become character Instead of being themself as the character. He and Tim Burton are fans of the original. They are
going to do It justice.

Burton got a good cast to surround Depp Including Michelle Pfeiffer, who continues to show she Is one of the best looking over 50 women around, and Chloe Moretz, who Is fast
becoming one of top Jailbait around.

I only watched the series when I was very young on the Sci-Fi channel (long before Syfy). The best stories I remember are Barnabas's entrance on the scene. His manipulation of the Collins family to resurrect his lost love, Josett, from the dead. This included Julia Hoffman trying to cure him (HBC's character) of vampirism and him turning Carolyn (Chloe Moretz's character) into a slave/fledging vampire which was kind of incestuous now that I think about it. It was all to chase first Maggie and then Victoria (Bella's character) and eventually she goes back in time somehow to Barnabas's original time in the 1700s. There, Angelique (Eva Green), the spurned mistress-witch who turned Barnabas into a vampire, tries to get Vicky burned as a witch. Barnabas comes back in time and buries the fire and brimstone reverend alive in the Collins house foundation and burns Angelique alive. I believe Vicky stayed behind finding love back in time and Barnabas returns to be cured of vampirism...at least until Angelique returned from the grave.

There was also a really popular character called Quentin who at first was the children's imaginary friend who turned out to be a ghost living in the attic of a deceased Collins from the 1800s. Somehow he comes to the 1960s as a cursed werewolf who also battles Angelique and Julia cures....it gets hazy ater that because I went back to school. :oldrazz:

But I think that covers all the stuff this movie might touch on.

I hope he uses it. He might work this one in too, as it was pretty popular:

I haven't thought of this show in so many years. This movie is bringing back all sorts of nostalgia.

It was said at the Dark Shadows Comic Con panel that Elfman will be using the main theme.

Yeah, but at least this is in a much more grounded way. She's just a redhead who wears much too much eye-shadow. As opposed to being the love child of Lady Gaga and Depp's Willy Wonka.
