Tim Burton's Dark Shadows

That trailer description seems very Addams Family-esque in tone. I suppose that's the easiest way to sell it to a wide audience.

How was it visually? Obviously gothic but it looks much more colourful than ST or SH so far.

Also the second part of the trailer, with Josette and the ambulance etc sounds more serious, is it? I don't mind the comedy, especially since it sounds hilarious, but I'd like the movie to take itself seriously when it comes to the plot.

I can't imagine that the film would be more comedic than it needs to be. I mean, it's not really Burton's style to go grim-dark, but if he and Depp are as big of fans of the original series as they say, I imagine it will have its fair share of serious moments.

I could see the marketing team putting (almost) all the comedic bits in the trailer. HBC said this would be a hard one to market and talked about how it has horror, drama and a soapiness to it. Figuring it is too oddball to market, they may just be aiming it to those who like the whimsical nature of Alice in Wonderland and other light Burton fare.

At least I hope so, because I want this movie to be more than just a comedy.

The trailer may play up the comedic aspects of the film much more than the actual film tone.Back In 1999 the trailer for Sleepy Hollow played up a lot more of the film's lighter moments. The trailer may want to downplay the horror and Soap Opera elements.

If Tim Burton made dark Shadows In vein of Sleepy Hollow then we are In for a treat.

To be honest, I have never seen one episode of Dark Shadows (only a few clips on youtube)... so I'm not really fussed on Burton's fidelity to the source material.

All I want is a good Burton movie, whether its comedy or horror-tinged. And if he could reach the heights of Sleepy Hollow then...

There has been some talk of dark Shadows being In Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow. Some believe Chloe Moretz's Carolyn will be similar to winoya Ryder In Beetlejuice.Sleepy Hollow has a lot of horror elements.Tim Burton Is known to be big on Horror. Why else does he have habbit since Sleepy Hallow to put Christopher Lee In his films. Now having been watching Dark Shadows episodes myself I can say Burton Is perfect director for It.It was low budget soap opera which brought In Horror elements partly to help the show survive.By today's standards there are things that can be called Campy. But,unlike say the Batman 1960's show you can watch It without cringing at things. It's going to be Intresting to see how Johnny Depp's look as Barnabas comes off In context of film.Besides Depp as Vampire I look forward to seeing Michelle Pfeiffer work with Burton again. And If anyone worries about Eva Green's comment about her character being crazy.Well her character has always been crazy In every version of dark Shadows.

Are these descriptions real? It seems that only one member has seen this footage and no one else.

It's not only him, there's another description from a member in both the rotten tomatoes/Imdb boards and yes before doubting, they actually do this kind of survey online where you get to see unreleased trailers.

whats the next WB movie? when can we expect a trailer?

Wrath of the Titans no?

Member ddddeeee posted an article a few pages back that a journalist mentioned that the studio said a trailer will release in March.

But would they really wait until the END of March to start this so-called '2 month promo' that people have been talking about?

The one that Sweeney Todd and Contagion had supposedly?

I hope something kicks off around the 10th March...

No one said at the end of March, the trailer could be attached WotT but that doesn't mean the trailer could come earlier, which I'm sure and hope will be the case here.

Contagion got a trailer around July 13th and its first poster a few days after, then August with the character posters and tv spots and such, I wouldn't mind if this follow the movie's pattern.

That's accurate.

Visually, as far as colour palette goes, it's rather drab. Think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory before they enter the factory. As far as the serious moments in the trailer, they seemed to take themselves appropriately seriously. Again, it's a trailer but it seems like there will be a balance.

I legit have no reason to make this up. It's not like I'm a huuuuuuuge Dark Shadows fan from back in the day. I'm being honest with you 100%. :yay:

I wonder, if the movie proves to be successful, if Burton and Depp would be interested in bringing Dark Shadows back to television. Obviously not from an acting-standpoint for Depp, but as a producer. Now, granted, it would be a third attempt at ressurecting Dark Shadows on television, but I could see ABC in particular really being interested in something like this. Part soap opera, part genre, with a fair share of humor (if the movie is any indication).

Well with the success of the supernatural tv shows, I wouldn't mind it. At least it is supposed to be soap operatic.

And just in terms of casting, I'm sure Depp, Green, Moretz and Carter are probably a no-go. But I could kind of see Pheiffer making the switch over to TV at some point, and if it was DS, then all the better. And JEH already did Human Target, so I could easily see him reprising his role.

I don't really want to see Michelle transitioning to TV just yet... I think she has a few good years left in her yet, as long as she gets off her ass and chooses the right projects.

She has been shockingly picky in recent years.

But anyway... some news on Danny Elfman's score, courtesy of IMDB:

Currently being recorded in London, which is hopefully a good omen because the only two scores Elfman has recorded in London are his magnificent scores to Batman and Sleepy Hollow.

andylondonbrass London Brass :
Here at air studios working on Danny Elfman score. Very dark sounds. All contra this and that Trumpets going out of fashion!

'' I think she has a few good years left in her yet, as long as she gets off her ass and chooses the right projects.''

1. you can do both a tv show and movies
2. tv in the last 5 years created fantastic stories and fantastic characters. and you get better character development because they have time.

No I know that... and of course i'd love to see her in a weekly series that would do wonders to boost her waning profile. But if she did do TV, I'd rather it be an original character, not anything Dark Shadows related.

But TV has just had a stigma attached to it for ''movie stars''... the idea that they are past it, can't support a film on their own and therefore must settle for something less in the TV realm. Merely an observation...

But Glenn Close, Anjelica Huston and Jessica Lange beg to differ I suppose.

TV isn't a dirty word anymore considering how many thespians are now on tv shows.
