this is a movie that ive loved since i first saw it. it had the best atmosphere of all his movies i think. it was certainly a bit bloody and gorey, but its become one of my absolute favorite tim burton films. and christopher walken as the headless horseman.....whoa....he scared the sh** outta me.

I used to love this one. And it still has great cinematography and music (and Christopher Walken as a screaming brute with sharp teeth :D) but I can't stand the wooden acting that seems obligatory in those Victorian-based flicks. That really keeps me from rewatching it.

Yeah i really enjoyed this film. Depp great as always, and the special effects for the time were pretty outstanding. Always a good Halloween flick :woot:

I still love this film. It has awesome visual facets, good acting (Depp is exception), intersting story and groundbreaking cinematography.

The only problem is that it's a murder mystery, and Burton has to concentrate on that when we all know his mind is on the quirkly characters, creepy atmosphere and Hammer homages.

Oddly enough, my gf and I are just about to watch it. I just came in here to have a smoke first and thought I'd check the boards. I really do like this movie quite a bit.

Christopher Walken never actually spoke a single word...!

Great film. Definitely a favorite of mine from Burton.

LOL! yeah! they really did a good job of dehumanizing his character, he was just evil.....no heart or soul at all! he just went "RAAAAURRR!" all the time. but he friggin creeped me out, but i gotta admit, everytime they show the walken-horseman scenes (nonheadless), i get chills and goosebumps, he just scares the crap outta me, with those extremely blue eyes, especially at the end. i used to have nightmares!

Correction: Ray Park as the Headless Horseman. Yeah Walken is cool and all but Park played the actual "Headless" Horseman, Walken played him when he had the head. ;)

use to enjoy it. but then i found a movie that i ilked better. it's called Sweeney Todd.

Visually amazing film. As far as style goes, it may be the definitive Burton movie. Still, I feel it's lacking in a few key areas.

But don't take that as me saying it's a bad movie.

havent seen sweeney todd yet but i keep seeing little tidbits of it. its just too bloody and gross for me, i can already tell its worse then sleepy hollow and thats just....i cant handle THAT much blood and gore. sad, because i REALLY wanted to see it. but thats just too much for me. its not something i can just put on and enjoy. i saw the scene when depp cuts the borat guys throat on youtube and it was SO hard to watch.

I love this movie, despite the flaws in the script. The visuals are great, the acting is great, Tim Burton didn't shy away from the head decapitations, and Christopher Walken was the friggin' Hessian Horseman! That's awesome!
Also, Danny Elfman's score sets the perfect tone. Kudos to him.

well yeah, i know darth maul played him (despite my hatred of the prequels, darth maul was kickass!). but i thought that the actual HEADLESS horseman wasnt really that scary, i dont know why. but when walken was onscreen, sheesh, what a creepy dude! those sharp teeth really made him scary as sh**!

Also, Danny Elfman's score sets the perfect tone. Kudos to him.

totally agree, danny elfman is da bomb. i just recently bought the sleepy hollow score off itunes, i just love the music. it can be eerie and scary, but i love the use of choir in elfmans scores, like edward scissorhands and those kinda movies. its just beautiful to listen to, especially in the scenes with ichabods mother, which are also very gorgeus scenes.

And he gets no credit for it.
