"Hurt" was a great song! Cash always had it, even in his old age.

Hell yes he did. I was a fan of that song when NIN did it, but Cash did it better. He had that ability.

Me. There's a cover song compilation I wanna get on and I'm looking for suggestions. Have any?

Would be easier if I knew what your voice and music style sounded like, but I don't (and I'm dial-up so big downloads are painful, lol). Anything by Cash is brilliant, though.

Hey hey, Brandon, what's up?

Big Fish is by far his best.

yeah that is great too but the one movie that truly hit me emotionally, a movie i will forever be thankful to mr burton for would be Edward Scissorhands. brilliant brilliant brilliant. and thats easily danny elfmans best score, its makes me cry sometimes, its just beautiful. never seena movie like it, very original. but you would have to be a certain kind of person to like this film, its not for everyone. but i love it, even more then his batman films, and those are great too. hell, i love all this guys stuff, even some of his not-so-great films like planet of the apes and mars attacks, but there more of spoofs then being serious. but i dont watch burtons film cuz its "realistic" or even serious. they are just and entertaining to watch and those are the kind of films i like, not all those super serious ones. your either more into speilberg, who is rather realistic with his movies, or burton, who is more like fantasy. i like burton more, but i love both in there own ways.

If we're looking for something mellow and somber... Demon Hunter - "The Tide Began to Rise". Especially the acoustic version. However they're probably looking for something that people are going to know and that probably isn't it...

JokerGrayson, it would be helpful if we could hear some vocal samples. It would help determine what songs to pick.

I hear that train a-comin'...

...it's coming round the bend,
But I ain't seen the sunshine
Since I don't know when
I been stuck in Folsom Prison
And time keeps draggin' on
But that train keeps a-movin'
On down to San Antone

When I was just a baby
My Mama told me son
Always be a good boy
And don't ever play with guns
But I shot a man in Reno
Just to watch him die
When I hear that whistle blowin'
I hang my head and cry

Well I know there's rich folks eatin'
In them fancy dinin' cars
They're prob'ly drinkin' coffee
And smokin' big cigars
Well I know I had it coming
I know I can't be free
But those people keep a-movin'
And that's what tortures me

Well if they give me my freedom
If that railroad train was mine
I bet I'd move it all a little
further down the line
Far from Folsom Prison
That's where I want to stay
And I'd let that lonesome whistle
Blow my blues away...

I'm also digging "All the things that I've done". That just made towards the top of my list.

...when i read this i heard the theme to the monkeys playing in my head...

Here we come
Walkin' down the street
We get the funniest looks from
Everyone we meet

HEY HEY! We're the Monkees
People say we monkey around
But we're too busy singin'
To put anybody down

We're just tryin' to be friendly
So come watch us sing and play
We're the young generation
And we got something to say

HEY HEY! We're the Monkees
You never know where we'll be found
So ya better get ready
'Cos we're coming to your town!

LOL!

Well if you like poppy rock acoustic stuff, I'll send you a link. I just recently got a band, so I'm not longer acoustic. But I've got two acoustic CDs out.

and reading that made me think of this

these eyes, cry every night for you
these arms, long to hold you, again
the hurtin's on me yea
but I will never be free, oh my baby no no

you gave a promise to me, yea
and you broke it, you broke it, oh oh

these eyes, watched you bring my world to an end
this heart, could not accept and pretend

the hurtin's on me yea
but I will never be free, no no no
you took the vow with me yea
you spoke it, you spoke it
babe

these eyes, are cryin'
these eyes have seen a lot of love,
but they're never gonna see another one like I had with you

these eyes, are crying
these eyes have seen a lot of love,
but they're never gonna see another one like I had with you

these eyes, are crying
these eyes have seen a lot of love,
but they're never gonna see another one like I had with you
