Tony Stark said:This is the biggest thing to make me happy about this movie. This is why I liked the first movie so much. It was the first movie in a long time, I felt comfortable taking my kids to, and they loved it.
I know the fanboys don't go for that stuff, they want all darkness and Sin City crap.
For me there's enough of that out there. The only Marvel films that have been made, that I've felt comfortable taking my kids to, are the Spider-man films and Fantastic Four.
As opposed to intellectual properties, you mean?
Oh... Ok. Nice to know these are the kids you're gearing them upon. Based on, you know, the comfortable factor that doesn't mind seeing violence, albeit 'cartoonised', fast paced editing, recycled themes and morals that are more wholesome but unfortunately more sugar coated than the most unhealthy cereal.
Not always about the darkness. It's about what gives it heart. Pixar has that in spades.
And besides, Spiderman and F4 have always been light hearted in tone, but they from time to time do have some dark elements to them, at least as far as the comics go. It isn't like they were light hearted in the first place because they wanted to be 'comfortable' for the frugal viewer.
That said, I don't have a problem with light hearted entities. As long as they have heart and some ounce of brain in them to know what makes for good narrative and characterisation. It's just the sugar coating that is the problem.
