Just out of curiosity, how many people here talking crap about Speed Racer actually bothered to see it? Or were they all too busy with their homoerotic dreams about the Dark Knight?

I went and saw DK twice in the theatres, the second time, I was only moderately impressed.

I went and saw Speed twice in theatres, and loved it even more the second time.

I saw Iron Man three times in theatres, loved it all three times, and bought it the day it released.

I still haven't bothered to pick up the Dk.
DK was good, but nothing excellent.

Facts are facts, while DK was good, at times I felt more like I was watching "Heat" or some other cops and robbers movie than a superhero film

IronMan and Speed both grab your attention and don't let go until the end.

Oh and where is Hulk? That movie was AWESOME, very well done, and Norton gave a brilliant performance, as per usual.


EDIT: I'm not saying that DK shouldn't be on the list, it was still one of my top 4 favorite movies this year, and yes, it beat out Speed in the long run. I just think that the others deserve to be there too.

Errrr...........that is the whole point of the movie. That was the aim, to make it more than just a popcorn, action blockbuster.

I look at this way. Emmiting TDK in favour of Speed Racer is like someone saying Apocalypse Now was trash and Combat Zone was a cinematic masterpiece.

I don't get it either. Are they good movies? Sure, at least most of them. But is every single one that comes out automatically the most entertaining movie of the year? Hell, no.

And for the record, I'm not putting down Pixar because I love TDK. TDK wasn't on this particular list. Okay, fine. I wouldn't have a problem with the list if SPEED RACER wasn't on there. The fact that it is makes this list worthless. Speed Racer was nothing more than a lame attempt at showing how many brightly colored graphics a studio can put onscreen at one time. The best comment I heard someone say about it was when one critic called it the visual equivalent of a bukaki film.

Agreed. I like Pixar, but the love they get is ridiculous. Speed Racer looks like a cereal commercial on acid.
