Tired of Truth Commercials

I smoke and sadly, every "anti-smoking" commercial I've ever seen has only served to remind me..."Oh YEAH! YOU SMOKE!" and I've gone to get my pack.

But if one anti-smoking ad makes one kid steer clear of it, then they're all priceless.

I've tried to quit thrice. Cigarettes should be illegal if cocaine and heroin are.
We KNOW that they kill, we KNOW that the manufacturers use additives in order to make them more addictive.
And here we are, here I am, literally with a smoke in my left hand.

And I know it will kill me.
And I love life more than anything.
And I'm looking forward to getting done with this sentence so I can take another puff.

My life would've been saved if the tobacco companies weren't so profitable and therefore so influential.
F*** you for wanting obscure the truth.:down

Then start campainging against chocolate too please.

Good job people of truth. You have told the world smoking is bad for you. Now perhaps they can focus on exposing other mysteries to mankind, like exposing the truth as to how people are supposed to stop their vehicles at a red light or underwear goes on before pants when getting dressed.

Life's important lessons.

Last time I checked no one is forcing anyone to smoke here. Cigarette companies are a business that will exist as long as there is a profit to be made. Sure they are addicting. But so is caffeine products, food products, alcoholic products, etc... Yet there aren't organizations that spend millions of dollars protesting against. The 'Truth' organization would save more lives by donating their resources to 'Feed the Children' or 'Aids in Africa' groups than they would by saying cigarettes are bad. Everyone knows cigarettes may lead to cancer...IT IS ON THE F'ING BOX! We don't need commercials shoving it down our throats with stupid metaphors that involve cow farts(yes that is one of their commercials). They are a bunch of hypocrits with a single minded mission...alert the world what we already know. Sorry some of you people don't have enough will power to kick your habit. I do not smoke and hate smokers and their fumes. But it is ridiculous to try and bring down a multi-billion dollar conglomerate by shoving the "truth" down our throats.

I thought Truth was funded by those billions cicarette companies had to pay in fines?

I think it is a private organization. Most of the fines cigarette companies pay are from the federal government and state and local taxation. However they are funded...that money could go to something better IMO.

I know the tabacco is whacko (if your a teen) I always found that part ironic. Is part of the settlement from Lorrilard.

Smoking sucks, but I'm sick of seeing the Truth ads on the TV all day. I've even heard them on the radio.

Every time those commercials come on, I pick up my TV and throw it against the wall.

It would probably take less effort if I just turned it off, but I have a bad temper :o.

HAHA:) I am tired of them too...I got it the first time...cigarettes=bad for your health. I don't need to hear it 50 times over. The warnings they preach are already on the cig box afterall...I guess their commercials on tv help the illiterates of this country???

I hate the Summers Eve commericals, they are sexist and ******ed. "Men have their idea of what freshening up is" *Portrays an overweight man always sweating profusley or having stains on his shirt, and usually very slob like* "And we have ours" *shows a woman cleaning herself with a Summers Eve brand product.

I hate tampon and period commercials too. That is sooo gross to me. I hate to sit there and listen to them rant on about how tampons alleviate a woman's menstrual cycle and help control their period whenever it pops up. Ugh...the word period just disgusts me. I say never trust anything that bleeds for 4 days and doesn't die:o

lol, same here.

When commercials come on, I thank the makers of television that they invented the mute button

They're annoying, but most commercials are.

Smoking is stupid. Hopefully it'll be eventually be illegal. Anyone who has been smoking for years and years just got extremely lucky. To the poster that said their mom was a chain smoker and was fine, therefore you will be fine too, you obviously have no idea.

And to whoever said smoking is okay because caffiene, food products, etc. are addictive too, those examples are no where near as addictive as cigarettes. Cigarettes are as addictive as crack. Comparing cigarettes and caffiene is totally different.

I love the Truth commercials, they're funny.

Just because something is stupid doesn't mean it should be illegal.

The progressive car insurance ones are more annoying. Something about them just irritates me, and they show them back to back.:down

i like the truth commercials. not many "anit-something" commercials manage to catch my interest, but the truth ones do.

they're are funny, but sad in many ways. i enjoy them.

Cigarettes and crack cannot be compared then as well...since both have different addictive substances in them.

I hate MCDonald's "I'm Lovin it" commercials, they got it from a Justin Timmberlake song for Crist's sake

The Truth organization is rather heavy-handed about the message they're trying to get out. I dislike their ads because they're almost insulting to the intelligence of the viewer; sort of condescending in some ways. They're also very smug and self-satisfied, and that too brings visions of punching the actors in them into bloody pulp. However, I also realize that the average American, which is who they are trying to reach, has a high likelihood of being on the slow side of functionally ******ed and that the Truth people have dumbed down their messages rather appropriately for the demographic they've targeted. After all, we do live in a society that cherishes "American Idol", Britney Spears and McDonalds. It's an entire culture revolving around bad choices and sometimes extremes have to be taken to get through to people.

I put down the cigarettes well over a year ago and never looked back, and in fact got myself in fantastic shape again. I knew they were bad for me when I smoked them (anyone who tries to rationalize that they aren't harmful to your health is an idiot). I do understand very well how addictive they are. But, I chose to just quit cold turkey and be done with them. It was the first time I decided to just quit them for good like that. It's not that hard if you'll just take some personal responsibility and enact some self-control and take back the driver's seat from whatever your addiction might be. You got yourself addicted. Get yourself unaddicted (by any means necessary). Use your brain and you don't need some ham-fisted advertising monkies to tell you that.

I was comparing how addicting they are. They're about the same in how addicting they are. Yes, I can compare them.

But I suppose you are right, you can compare cigarettes to food additives, caffiene, etc. It's just that cigarettes a lot more addicting than the others.
