Tmnt 2??

I remember the writers saying it canceled it out though

This was taken from an interview with Monroe a while back:

AV: How does your film fit into the Turtles universe? For instance, is it more of a continuation to the first three films or the latest TV series?

KM: You know, it’s funny. There’s so much you can do. There’s so much in the Turtles’ past, as far as adventures and stuff. So when we first started, we were trying to find what we were going to say – what was going to be lore and what wasn’t, for the movie. At the end of the day, we just realized, ‘Let’s just make the whole thing lore.’

Basically, they’ve lived all these adventures, and they’ve defeated all these villains. Now, they find themselves without direction, because they don’t have a common enemy to fight anymore. The movie became more about a rebirth of the heroes, instead of an origin story.

It's probably best to think of TMNT as a very loose continuation of the first films, with bits of other sources thrown in (such as April being an antique shop owner).

They should make a grittier and darker Ninja turtles movie where they're in their early twenties and Splinter has died, and the Shredder comes back and they have to learn to band together and fight without Splinter. It's be cool if the story was told from April's point of view, and it shows the turtles more vengeful, secluded, and violent side. But then again TMNT has to be for EVERYBODY now doesn't it?

I like the idea about Splinter being dead, but I doubt it will get too dark. Prolly as dark as Batman Begins.

I'm all up for a darker toned TMNT. The last one was a good start though. But you see the problem is making a movie that everyone will like. The situation in my appartment with my roommates is a great example.

I preffer the comics, another preffers the old show, and the last one likes the new toon and old.

See I grew up on the comics. I think the darkness and storylines in them are great. I would love to see those Turtles brought to life. The closest we have gotten is the new show. For me the old 80's toon is not the TMNT I know and love. Don't get me wrong I like it but I can't take it in large amounts.

My roommate however never knew they were a comic and had only seen the old show. So when the new cartoon came out he was confused. These weren't the turtles he knew and loved.

My other roommate just got into turtles and he likes both. He says he likes the 80s one cause it doesn't take it slef seriously and has a lot of jokes aimed at adults, which I think it does. But he likes how the new show has an overlaying story arc.

So to make a movie that everyone will love to me just doesn't seem possible. If they have a good script, the right director, and the money I say go for it. Try to balance it but in the end just make a good enjoyible movie. Like I said the last TMNT movie had a little bit of everything for everyone. I'd be good with anohter movie like that.

I think I'll stick with the previous live-action incarnations. Those were entertaining.
