Since you bring it up, I've always thought it silly since he's already got a huge 'S' on his chest. It's like, "oh there's one on my back too, in case you forgot that I'm Superman."

I personally dont like the cape drags a little bit. That seems a bit much. Not a deal braker to me. Same with no S. I wish it was there but its ok.
