Well it's like an ending cause he's saved Earth one last time then flown into the sun. Then you see him fixing the sun so you know he'll be back.

If you're going to end a Superman film series, its obvious what you do.

Adapt the Death & Return of Superman arc. Once you've killed him and brought him back to life... there's kinda nowhere else to go tension-wise. A problem The Matrix sequels couldn't overcome.

I think I want something really simple. Something that conveys that Superman is happy and confident and is ready to continue his never ending battle.

I imagine him at the end of the last film flying around Metropolis, smiling and doing loop-de-loops and zigzags and things of that nature. Then...his super hearing picks up on gunshots or a woman screaming for help. His face screws up in determination and he shoots off into the distance, ready to help.

Another idea I have is of him and Lois about to head out to dinner. They're both looking forward to spending time with each other. Suddenly, Clark's super hearing picks up on a minor situation. He has to go. Lois playfully rolls her eyes and warns him not to be more than ten minutes late. They kiss and he changes into his other suit and flies off.

Most people would probably find those very underwhelming, and I don't blame them, but I'd be totally fine with that.

If they actually wanted to give it a conclusive end, I imagine they would adapt Death of Superman and just leaving him dead.

Or All-Star. That's pretty much the perfect way to end a Superman story. He's gone, but is still out there, watching us, saving us.

Even though this thread isn't about sequels to MOS, I'll briefly comment on this: I agree to disagree, mainly because it depends on where MOS goes, and if it will be connected to Justice League. Origin/Death/Return makes for a epic Superman trilogy, but if it's connected to Justice League, then Death and Return isn' the last end all on where to take Superman to, Kingdom Come is when it comes to Superman and the DCU.

Beyond that, it doesn't mean there isn't anything more to do, after or within those stories, or if they don't do those stories at all. I've never seen a government agent Superman, other than DKR. After MOS and the tensions humanity must be having with aliens, I wouldn't be surprised if the views on Superman is kinda like Earth One: yes he seems to be an ally, but will he turn on us and what will happen if he does? That thought leading to Superman Government Agent, or that and whatever the story in MOS2 becomes leading to that, would be something to see. Another are villains like Luthor, and Brainiac: Luthor has been a scientist, billionaire businessman, president, etc. Earth One recreated a brand new take on him, using a billionaire scientist hired by the Government to combat Superman; I would like to see what Luthor will be like in the MOS universe. And Brainiac (same goes for Darkseid, though he's more of a Justice League villain) could be Krypton's old nemesis or even a creation of Luthor; the thing is, though, is how to protray that villain, who would probably be similar or no different than how Zod will be like MOS.

So yeah...

Would be totally satisfied with that. Have him die, and then show the impact on human culture Superman had, blah blah blah.

Watch MOS 3 end with Superman "dieing", and then Lois goes to a restaurant in Italy to get away, and sees Clark across the room. Lmao

The Matrix is a great movie. Did we really need Reloaded and Revolutions?

Pirates of the Caribbean was good (overall; overrated as ****). But did we need those two (then two more after that) God awful sequels?

The first Matrix. An AMAZING movie! Gets better with each viewing. And NO! We_did_NOT need Reloaded and Revolutions. The cat was already way our of the bag when Matrix-1 ended. There was constant character & story development, in the most exciting ways. It already felt, when Matrix-1 ended, that we had already seen Neo's destiny. We knew where it was going. It was enough. 2 & 3 were only made because Hollywood saw dollar signs. But they aren't a quarter of the movie that the original was. They fall so very short in comparisons.

The first Pirates flick. It standed good on it's own merits. Same could be said about a certain Shrek movie. The rest was just so overated and not very good.

u gotta understand the general public (my friends) is not hardcore superman fan. they can't see it = they can't see it. as simple as that. it wasn't catching their eyes until i brought it to their attention.

Just on the magnificent ending of the magnificent All-Star Superman, I would love if it ended like that... Except, Goyer already stole it for the (also magnifiecent) The Dark Knight Rises.

Think about it:


After a big battle Superman and Lois say goodbye and kiss on a grey city street.
So do Batman and Catwoman.

Superman flies into the sun, exploding his solar energy into it to save the world.
Batman flies the bomb out over the ocean, exploding with it to save the city.

Sometime later, a bitter-sweet Lois sits in front of a giant memorial statue of Superman.
Sometime later, a bitter-sweet Gordon sits in front of a giant memorial statue of Batman.

Cut to the heart of the sun: Our hero is revealed to be alive and well, having entered a new unknown phase in his life.
Cut to Florence: Our hero is revealed to be alive and well, having entered a new unknown phase in his life.

End on a character introduced in this story only, in a big long shot of... a coming successor.

Goyer also used the Jor-El monologue heard in the teaser, so it's safe to say he's a fan.
