I'm not as annoyed with Greengrass as others are. He goes overboard but he is a good director.
I love Paul Greengrass. I don't think people realize just how much the editing is his style as much as the camera work. And The Bourne Legacy really needed that editing, imo. After watching that, you can tell how much Greengrass cut down a lot of Gilroy's exposition/dialogue and really streamlined the scenes. He had a great down-and-dirty, minimalist approach (I loved the way he used jump cuts to get straight to the points of individual shots rather than wasting time on unneeded action to get there. Made for killer pacing.) that I personally felt defined that series more than anything else. And it's the reason that trilogy is up there with Indiana Jones as my favorite in history.

Any speculation about what's going on here?

Any shot that Beardy McGingerface behind Perry is actually Jimmy, or just wistful thinking on my part?

Wonder what they're all entranced by here - first TV news reports of an alien invasion?

I know I'm late to the party, but can anyone tell me why Zod needs to wear a metal suit to fight Supes?

They both should have the same powers since they're from Krypton right?

I think the Kryptonian suits that Zod and his crew are wearing are to prevent sensory overload.

Not just that, but I think they're also wearing their armors on Krypton because they're not used to having special powers on their planet. But the whole thing with the sensory overload, I love it. Very cool and I don't think it has ever been done before.

It has been speculated that they are watching the very same video that was released last night (the Zod message).

Well, we know that Jor-El wears a similar set of armour from both the merchandise photos and the new shot of him from Entertainment Weekly. That makes it pretty clear that the armour was worn on Krypton and I believe it is also explained in the Entertainment Weekly article. But that might have just been the author speculating.

Perhaps these armors play a ceremonial part for battle in Kryptonian culture. It would explain why Jor-El wears a similar suit.

Does Perry White have an earring?

Ahh how time heals... Now we are only concerned with Perry White having an earring? Acceptance has kick in. This is an improvement if you ask me. :yay:

The armor is on because they don't know they don't need it, and well it is just what they wear. It is their battle armor and they are going into battle. Zod is wearing his helmet because he doesn't realize he doesn't need it to breath.

Faora's clear mask is what is helping with the sensory overload.

I can see Jor-El's being ceremonial based on its appearance. It could be a symbol of leadership on his part despite coming from the scientist caste of society.

However, both Zod and Faora's armour look far more utilitarian and practical. I would even say that Zod's armour looks like power armour meant to increase strength and speed.

As a result, I don't think you make generalizations about the purpose of all Kryptonian armour as a whole. We will just have to wait and see.

I'm thinking that Zod's armor also gives him a better advantage when taking on Superman. I mean while Zod may be the better fighter, isn't probably as strong as Superman's due to the fact that Superman has had a lot more years absorbing the sun's radiation. Plus, even if that weren't a issue, having the edge against someone is something that any smart person would want to have and his armor may provide more protection and offense against Superman who only has his own strength to rely on.

Whatever they're looking at, it can't be good :woot:

When I watched that viral video of Zod (by the way. Absolutely BADASSNESS!! That voice!)... Anyway. While I found it very good (and rather intense/scary, actually) I couldn't help but think about the Joker In TDK, as well. You know. The whole: "If Coleman Rees isn't DEAD within the next 60 minutes - then I blow up a hospital!"... I remember sitting in the theater when that happened. I turned to my brother and wispered - Is it just me, or is this getting damn intense!? The movie just constantly raised the stakes, getting more and more dramatic. I had sweaty palms when the film ended... GOD! I hope I will have a somewhat similar experience with MOS. I sooo need that.

Yes and yes.
