So, out of curiosity, what would you guys want the poster to look like? What would be the perfect MOS poster?

Well, just a few quick alternatives:

But really anything other than a trailer screenshot slapped on a blurred city background. It reeks of laziness, lack of care and creativity. Like others have said I'm sure they have hundreds of pics of Cavill to choose from and movie scenarios better than a random flight pic.

I meant that type of universe of taking it more seriously and fitting into our world. But you're right, this is all Snyder and thy are very different. Poor choice of words on my part.

I don't see how those images represent MOS well at all. I think the poster is fine as is. We may see another poster with more characters soon. But I don't really like the idea of seeing an angry heat vision Superman ripping things up and fighting monsters. That would be false advertizing and a departure from the Nolan real world approach IMO.

Nolan approach? Don't you mean Snyder approach? And since we WILL see an angry heat vision Superman ripping through his enemies I don't see how that would be false advertising? Besides, I thought WB was trying to distance themselves from SR and drive the point home that this is something totally different. Well, in terms of the posters one really couldn't tell. The MOS poster is a pure SR style poster. If WB wanted to shut down complaints of lack of action and Superman not doing anything other than lifting things (and looking like a nancy doing that) in all areas of the marketing, showing an image of him slightly ticked off and kicking ass would be a good way to go about it.

But alas, it is what it is. A poster will not make or brake a movie but considering how much care the filmmakers seemingly put into the film, it's a shame the marketing department doesn't do the same with all the material, not just trailers. MOS should have a brilliant poster which would gain near universal praise and love. Not something that is OK at best to the majority.

You don't see it? Take the background out and its totally MOS. What I want from those images is full body battle shot of supes and Zod (that's who that is in the pic btw) and from the other is... Well that could easily be a scene from the military fight with supes. Also from MOS. Badassery. Something that will be seen in the movie.

Struzan has been retired for over 5 years due to posters just like this one being produced. Sadly the day he did retire was the end of an era not only for Struzan posters but movie posters in general.

Meanwhile there are entire companies of people like Mondo making wonderful posters. The studios even hire them to make posters from time to time...but then only use them as limitied edition give aways. It makes no sense at all.

It's like there's nothing there. I like it, but that's because I like nothing. Nothingness. In that sense, the poster is genius.

It's just about time that people put up or shut up on this poster stuff. I've heard dozens of times now that anyone with strong photoshop skills could make it... time to prove it I guess. The poster may not be the best in the world, but there are multiple elements in there.. it's not just a drive-by photoshopped screengrab of the trailer.

I don't understand why it's so hard for them to make Superman look cool in a poster. First, we get him in handcuffs being walked by a few soldiers. Now we have a blurry screen-grab from the trailer. It's almost like the WB marketing team are saying, "Hey, guys. Take a quick glance at our MOS poster and then check out all of the posters next to it that are way more awesome!"

What?? Where are you getting this from?

From what's been shown in the trailers... he's saved his school mates (no one made him), saved oil rig workers (no one made him) and is protecting the Earth agianst an alien attack from people who are from his home world. I think I want to be a brooding jerk when I grow up.

What do you base that one on? Because he's not smiling every 5 minutes, winking at the camera and making a funny joke? oh no he's thinking about his life, oh no he's acting serious! he must be brooding...and a jerk. Clearly they are trying to imitate Batman.

Even if he does brood a little from time to time, I don't see how that would make him a jerk. And Batman's not a jerk either; he's a troubled hero. Odd how people put a stigma on everything..
