I don't see what the fuss is about Kubrick, honestly. For his big achievements, I did not like Dr. Strangelove, The Shining is beautifully-shot nonsense, and 2001 hideously overrated. (I have not seen A Clockwork Orange, Spartacus or Full Metal Jacket.) I loved Eyes Wide Shut and Barry Lyndon though.
As I said earlier, like you, I'm not a Kubrick fan either, but you should really check out Paths of Glory if you haven't seen it. That's a great film and easily one of his best, imo.

Does anyone think we'll start to see more pictures released later next month when TDKR comes out? I really hope they send some stuff, with Nolan's Batman ending...I need something DC wise good enough to sink my teeth into!

A Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite movies of all time. Go watch it soon, you're missing out!

I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to have to do a presentation on 2001 in college. Needless to say, it wasn't not easy or fun. But after a lot research and breaking it down, it's actually pretty fascinating. I won't argue with you that it can be quite boring but one of the best things about it are its VFX. It's hard to believe in came out in 1968, before man ever stepped foot on the moon. The film is not without merit.

We're still on for a MOS-teaser with TDKR, I guess?

Other than that I dont think we'll get much before then. Possibly some tidbits at the con, but nothing too big to distract from TDKR.

Usually they release pictures the week of the first trailer release, so I am expecting SOMETHING other than the trailer.

WB should at least put out a new official still this month. Even I shot of Superman from behind as he looks at something away from the camera. They need to slowly start seeping this film into the pop culture horizon.

Probably the teaser poster.
Oh yeah, I hadn't even realized we haven't gotten one of those yet. Surely that will be released before the trailer. Though it will probably be nothing more than a poster version of the official logo we've had for a while now.

That's exactly what I can see it being.

With "2013" written on it.

Wasnt that the exact same thing SR did?

Very uninspiring, but that might be what we're actually getting. :csad:

All they need to do is show a close-up of a fist punching someone/something, followed by a shot of the 'S' and the blurb 'Don't worry, this movie couldn't be more different to the last one'.

Job done.

Well, that seems a tad timid and apologetic. ;)

The fact is, it’s hard to find a serious film critic or a reputable film journal that doesn’t list 2001 in their top 10 movies of all time (in some cases it’s #1). 2001 is art. And not all art is easily accessible. (Other films in the top 10 might include Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin, Fellini’s 8½ or Ozu’s Tokyo Story. And those aren’t “easy” movies either.)

Another point. 2001 was filmed in 70mm SuperPanavision. And lucky folks have seen it in this format - a truly immersive experience where “content” was inextricably linked to “form.” Watching 2001 now on video is certainly better than nothing. But it’s something akin to screening Avatar on an iPhone and being confused as to what all the fuss is about.

New?

Eh, not really. Basically the same as the banner.

Looks weird the left side of the logo. The not so curvy part of the S.

Colors do look a little different there.

I'm not digging all the lines on it, looks too busy.

We really do need something to talk about, don't we... :hehe:

For real. i've stopped coming on here as much because there isn't a whole lot to talk about.

I totally agree with everything. I actually like the film quite a bit -- much to the chagrin of my girlfriend who I make watch it when it's on TV. I was simply trying to compromise with those who don't.

Totally agreed. Just think though, just a little over a month AND IT BEGINS!!! Hopefully that is. If the MOS trailer truly is with TDKR (although I'm hoping it's with TASM because I'm greedy like that and that would mean that we get it sooner) then official pictures, the trailer description should be coming out the week before it's shown. July is going to be such a HUGE....EPIC month!

I haven't skimmed through older pages of this thread, but has anyone debunked the alleged trailer description "leaked" last month?
