I don't see what the fuss is about Kubrick, honestly. For his big achievements, I did not like Dr. Strangelove, The Shining is beautifully-shot nonsense, and 2001 hideously overrated. (I have not seen A Clockwork Orange, Spartacus or Full Metal Jacket.) I loved Eyes Wide Shut and Barry Lyndon though.

You don't see how? I can understand your opinion of him and that's fine, but he has had a profound impact on filmmakers of today. Not to mention 2001 was and still is a film with incredible special effects and at that time, that was people first look at Earth from space and they got it pretty right.

I'd recommend Lolita, Paths of Glory and The Killing if you weren't a fan of his other films. For anyone who says Kubrick was a cold filmmaker with no emotion then they probably haven't seen Paths of Glory. Or Spartacus.

Saw some of you guys talking about Stanley Kubrick and while I was browsing Amazon.co.uk, I came across this Blu Ray boxset for 7 films which include....A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, Full Metal Jacket, Barry Lyndon and Lolita. So this would be a great set to have for any Kubrick fan.

Ugh. The DVD version of that was the first DVDs I owned only it didn't include Eyes Wide Shut. A year later thru rereleased it with EWS and a documentary about Kubrick. I'm still bitter as you can see.

The Dark Knight Rises is out in 42 days, there should be a teaser and teaser poster by then. But considering this is the first of a potential franchise (movie universe) and the movie is only 53 weeks away, I'd like a few character pictures with the teasers.

Anyone here think they reduced the curve of the border of the S in the new logo?

While it's still early, which set of characters from the film do you guys see the marketing department focusing on promoting, with specific character posters and whatnot, aside from the obvious ones (Superman and Zod) for this film?

Lois and Faora.

On that note, is there still no word of a Jimmy Olson?

If Jimmy's in the film, then he definitely sounds like he'll end up being no more than a cameo if an announcement hasn't been made already for the casting of the character.

Yeah.

But going back to the original question, I think there will be some promotional focus on female characters as well as Zod and Superman.

It should be interesting to see character posters that are..actually interesting in terms of diversity for once when it pertains to a superman film.lol

I mean, don't get me wrong, I didn't have that much issues with the character posters that they released for SR, but like the film itself, they only covered on the topics of either Superman's romance with Lois, or Lex's connection with the New Krypton Landmass.

I want to see individual character posters where we see each of the main characters placed in their specific environment. Lois could be placed in the DP newsroom, whereas Superman could be poised somewhere on top of Metropolis and Zod's character in the poster could have a kryptonian background behind him, etc.

That would work.

I would also like to see one of just Clark, maybe in the DP Newsroom too.
This film could focus more on Krypton than we think, maybe then we'll see some for Jor-El and Lara.

I mean after all, it's Russell Crow.

Indeed; I think there'll be more conflict shown leading to the final days of Krypton, with Jor-el's role being beefed up to being more active and action oriented, possibly in the same light that they had done for the character at the beginning of the animated series for Superman in the DCAU.

Yep.
I'm a firm believer that we'll see a lot more attention paid to the conflict with Jor-El and Zod than we did with the Donner flick.

I really think Russell Crow will be playing a much larger part than Marlon Brando did.
And there will be a lot of Zack Snyder eye candy-action scenes involved with it.

Hopefully Snyder uses the opportunity on Krypton to seed the ideas for new villains... in sequels. I would love it if the destruction of Krypton was due to a war against Brainiac with a passing glimpse of him before the planet blows / Zod gets sent to the Phantom Zone. All of the studio green screen work, of which they were rumoured to be huge sets, could provide a cool backdrop for Synder's brand of an advanced civilization at war. If they make it known from the beginning that the universe has more than just 2 species, then it will be more plausible when Supes confronts other cosmic beings in his mythology.

Right....

....it looks like good films just ain't your cup of tea.
