Picking out artwork for something that's going to be on your skin for the rest of your life is a daunting challenge. If you're going to do it, talk to a lot of different artists and find one that really meshes with what you're wanting to do and has some ideas to help you develop a nice custom piece. Custom work is where it's at, without a doubt. You've got some great artists in your area, I'm sure, so do some exploring and chat some of them up and talk to them about what you'd like to do, ask them about their ideas, and check out their previous work and portfolio to see if they're the kind of artist you're looking for.
