I mentioned this a few days ago and think it's a certainty. Even it they just add some bass and effects or whatever. I'm not a sound guy so I don't know the tech lingo but they will most assuredly alter it extensively.

I'm actually hoping they don't alter his voice extensively. It takes away from the authenticity (imo) when you edit it too much in post.

I hope they find a way to make Thanos gleeful in all of the evil that he does, without it coming off campy. That's a key element to his character... he's not only a guy who enjoys the carnage he creates, but he revels in it. That's why I've always preferred him over Darkseid. Darkseid is really just your typical grim, evil, all-powerful villain. But Thanos is a sick, twisted bastard. He's almost like Darkseid with the Joker's personality. I hope they nail that in the films.

Nice to see I'm still remembered and loved around these parts.
Group hug, you catamites. :gibbs:

Yay, The Collector isn't Thanos, so you can all sleep soundly in your beds tonight knowing all is right with the world. For the record, that was never my "problem" with the whole issue; it was simply whether or not The Collector is in Thanos' camp, either as a loyal employee, mind-slave, blackmail victim, fanboy/cult member, or even a disguise. We've officially crossed off *one* option: it remains to be seen whether or not The Collector works for Thanos in another way.

That's all I want to see happen. I just have *never* wanted to see Gunn steal Thanos' thunder by trying to shift the whole Infinity Gauntlet/ Thanos Quest arc off on the freakin' Collector. In the end, the IG should entirely be Thanos' baby, like it always was. What was great about Thanos Quest was that Thanos *didn't* use force and power to obtain the Gems: he *outwitted* the most powerful beings in the universe, and used their own powers against them. If GOTG is about Taneleer Tivan deciding it would be nifty to gather the Infinity Gems/Stones and make a nice glove out of it, and then just have Thanos strongarm it from him, I'm out.

It seems to me like The Collector could be more a combination of the Collector of the comics and Mentor, perhaps trying to collect the Infinity Gems to stop Thanos from getting them. That doesn't mean he needs to get very far, or that it'll be as simple as him getting all 6 then Thanos swooping them all out from under him.

Also, in spite of all the ribbing you've been getting, I don't think the guess that The Collector could be Thanos in disguise was as laughably ridiculous as some are making out. Did I think it would happen? No. But I didn't think it was IMPOSSIBLE. It seemed suspicious that Thanos hadn't been cast, and that an actor of the calibre of Benicio Del Toro had been cast in such a seemingly small role spanning multiple films. Marvel has also started a pattern of switcheroos regarding their villains, characters not turning out to be who they seem, or covertly being melded which other characters from the comics in surprising ways. There were enough factors to at least make it a reasonable guess.

You've said everything I've always thought about Thanos. He's like a super-powered Joker that's almost ten times as evil, if that's possible. He causes panic & chaos and doesn't give a damn. There should be no gray area with him. And by that I mean you shouldn't wonder if there's a glimmer of hope inside him, he should be rotten to the core.

And yes, although I've always loved Darkseid, I think Thanos is the better & more intriguing villain by far. Hell, Thanos is probably my favorite villain of all time (excluding the Joker himself).

I agree, I've always liked Thanos more than Darkseid. And yes, there's as trong case for him being one of my all-time favourite comic villains, behind only The Joker and MAYBE Lex Luthor.

And yeah, I like how Thanos is twisted, ruthless, more than a little crazy... but also with this weird kind of integrity to him where he'll stick to a principle, even if it's one that's warped and only makes sense to him. He's a bit Anton Chigurh in that way.

Haha yeah, a superpowered Anton Chigurh with a sense of humor. Or maybe a superpowered Silva? Yeah, Thanos is a much more interesting character than Darkseid. The idea of a being so immensely powerful and so evil that he's willing to murder the whole universe just to appease Death is so twisted, it's fantastic.

I was in the minority who was hoping Diesel would be Thanos I think his voice would've fit the character but I like Josh we'll see what he comes up with

I think it would've been a bad idea to have Diesel as both Groot AND Thanos. Imo, the former is a better suit for him.

Another thing I've always loved about the character is his intelligence. His prep skills are almost second to none...the only person I can think of who is better at prepping & planning would be Dr. Doom.

With Thanos, I like the fearlessness he portrays & his insistence on getting whatever the hell he wants. We're talking about a guy who went up against Sky-father level beings like Galactus and Odin. Thanos is as impressive as they come.

Btw, one thing I want them to keep is Thanos' fascination with Mistress Death. Not just death itself, but personified as a female as with the comics. I think it's more interesting that way and adds more layers to the character.

That's why they were both the main villains in the Superhero Squad show. :oldrazz:

Dr Doom is a poor mans Thanos when it comes to "prep". Thanos is like, Doom, Reed, Lex and Batman combined.

Then throw in the ability to blow planets up, beat the Surfer to death with his bare hands, blow planets up just from the aftershocks of his punches, give Galactus the heeby jeebies with telepathy, go toe to toe with Odin...

Yeah. Even if they don't actually show her, they could just have Thanos describe her. That would be cool because you would be wondering if this guy is so crazy that he's in love with a hallucination.

Yeah I really want his fixation on Mistress Death mentioned. It was one of the most interesting parts of The Infinity Gauntlet.

Dead on analysis.

That could work but I think it'd have more of an impact if she was actually shown. She doesn't have to be prominent or in every other scene, just a here & there appearance from her.

Dr. Doom has succeeded in actually taking Galactus' powers...one feat Thanos has not accomplished as far as I'm aware.

Thanos decided, "Nah, I don't need your powers, you can have them and I'll STILL beat you." And he did. :woot:

Spoilers, but an early review of a (partial) rough draft of the movie is currently making the rounds at Latino Review. Read at your own risk, but you might be happy to hear what they have to say about Death. :word:

While visiting Thanos' flying throne rock, Ronan and Nebula have harsh words for the Mad Titan's right hand man, The Other, after he lectures them about showing respect for his master (things don't turn out well for one of them). This scene is the only one where Thanos is present (he pops up again later, but only on a screen/hologram for a few seconds). The Avatar of Death assures Ronan the plan is still in place and that Xandar is toast if he returns with the object.

Galactus' powers are insignificant compared to outright omnipotence, which Thanos has taken with his prep time. Twice, even.
