So, when Thanos gets all the Infinity Gems does he turn a glowing yellow and have his own Supersonic themesong?

Someone might have brought this up already, but when video was seen of Vin Desil walking around on stilts everyone assumed it was for Groot. It's been said before but I could see him playing Groot and Thanos, and that the stilts could thoretically be used for both, if not just for Thanos, a a point of reference for how tall he is supposed to be while filming.

Possibly. Btut I am going to bump this.
Remember the talks of Kevin Durand being in talks for a role? The guy is 6'6, can bulk up, and usually plays villains. Could he have been up for Thanos? I can certainly see it, I think he would be very good

I just hope the voice is good. I don't it to be super deep, but maybe have a bit of gravel. I actually would prefer if his normal speaking voice is not intimidating, but when he gets angry/excited I want the voice to send chills down my spine

Have there been any good portrayals of Thanos in TV shows or any non comic type media? I don't really know what to expect with him.

From what I did read in the Thanos Rising comic he seems like an insane but confused character, almost like the things he does aren't exactly out of evil but to find his purpose, but conversely he finds his purpose is to do those things. I think if executed properly he could be a very good character, let alone villain. I don't really want him to be a crazy evil guy, I want some good depth to him. It's probably good they're setting him up in GotG and maybe even somewhere else in Phase 3 before he comes into real play in Avengers 3. He seems to be a very complex character, which is pretty cool.

The Superhero Squad Show featured Thanos as the main villain for the first half of season 2. Then Silver Surfer turned evil, overthrew him, and became the big bad for the rest of the season. So yeah, it was not Thanos's finest hour.

This in every single way

I'm glad you agree. I think it's important that he has that "switch", because he has to be likable to a degree, but when he gets serious and down to business, I want him to terrify a Thunder God, a Super Soldier, a Techno Genius, and a Giant Green Rage Monster. That won't be easy to portray, and I'm hoping they go easy on voice modulation.

Well, I mean, I think the "switch" shouldn't be as exaggerated as you are making it seem. I wouldn't even say he has to be likeable. In terms of the difference between calm and angry, think of it as someone with Bipolar Disorder. In terms of tonage. They'll be calm. However, when they go into a rage fit, it still is them, they don't vocally turn into someone else, they just amplify.

I think that "switch" should be similar to that of a very outspoken person simply loosing their cool, but slightly exaggerated.

Thanos never sounded like a monster to me. Ever. The only thing "monstrous" I heard when I would read him was the "size" of his voice, simply because he's big. People assume he'd be a monster. We can't forget, he's an enternal from titan. We've seen what his brothers look like, they are all essentially human beings, and have similar voices to humans most likely. Thanos simply is mutated. And big. I would imagine that he has a big voice, like that of someone who is 7 feet tall, but it's a bit gravely. Not necessarily DEEP, but big, booming, a big presence. I also imagine some type of delicacy in his speech, sounding out syllables, and artciulating words very carefully.

Yes, I believe you describe it much better then I did. I think you're right, I just wasn't able to articulate what I meant by the "switch" as well as you did.

I personally think he should have some degree of likability, but I wouldn't be disappointed if he didn't. And I definitely don't want him to sound like a monster-he shouldn't, for instance, sound like the Hulk. And a certain degree of eloquence, as you describe in your last sentence.

I also hope his "aura" is done right. His presence should be felt. The best analogy I can come up with is Darth Vader-when he was on screen, you knew something bad was going to happen.

Don't know why I read over this initially, but this is why Thanos is my favorite character in all fictional work. He's not a villain to me anymore. He's just an interesting, tragic character. He really is. In all honesty, I know people wimper over Loki in the MCU, however, in my opinion, Thanos is a much MUCH more tragic character than Loki could ever be.

Thanos is the villain you hate to love I feel like. A lot of his bigger events (could be my bias), but I find myself rooting for him

I agree, looks are cool. But in all honesty, Thanos' voice is what will make the live action adaption for me.

Whoever voiced Smaug in the new hobbit movie, my god, that's Thanos' voice

Edit...it was friggin cumberbatch who voiced Smaug, figures

I agree, I want a voice with some baritone in that voice.

Lol, this is why Cumberbatch has become such a fan favorite for everything. Even when you don't know he's voicing a character, you still want "whoever voiced that character" for the next big thing. :woot:

Because his voice is just that awesome. It oozes charisma, sophistication, and menace.

Idk why, but I just have a really good feeling he COULD be Thanos, or someone in this movie. Bahhh!

This suddenly came to me:

1) T-esseract
2) H
3) A-ether
4) N
5) O
6) S

Coincidence? Think not....

:wow:

It's a stretch, but we'll see if any other Infinity Gems/MacGuffins fill in the rest of those letters.

I wonder if Cap 2 will bring us an infinity stone? Than we can see if the pattern holds

Kinda tired of seeing Cumberbatch being mentioned for every villain now, was never a big fan of him as an actor, so i definitelly don't want him for Thanos
