Homecoming Tobey Maguire Vs. Andrew Garfield Vs. Tom Holland: who is the best Spidey?

The time has come to debate.

I'm gonna say Holland only because I really REALLY enjoyed him, but honestly, it's still too early to tell.

Tom was fortunate enough to have great writing and direction on his side for CW....you could have easily put Andrew in the role and people would be saying the same things about him that they're saying about Tom. Cause like I said, it just depends on the quality of the writing and direction mostly.

Hopefully the standalone is great. If it is, then Tom for sure.

Tom did what Tobey, Andrew and Sony couldn't do in 12 years, balance the portrayals of Peter and Spidey.
Tobey and Andrew had their own things, but either one excelled at just being either Peter or Spider-Man, and lacked in the other part. Tom balanced what is like to be a nerdy teenager from Queens and being a Radioactive Spider-Man at the same time.

Tom succeeds in really bringing something refreshing to the role whilst being true to the character.

Look at Marvel's magic. Peter Parker had 10 mins of screen time and they achieved something so great against 10 hours of previous incarnations.

I think Tom's Peter/Spidey has the best elements from both Tobey and Andrew.

But Tom is just better fit for the role and Andrew brought some good things to the role too, make no mistake. But certain things unique to his ideas like the skateboard, the stuttering etc Tom's performance is just better and definitive. He's so good that are being sold by less than 16 minutes.

Really? I'd like to judge once I've seen him in his own film just like the others. We have no idea how things will turn out with the new director. FYI I'm very happy with Tom in CW.

Not only does Holland blow past Tobey and Garfield, he's what RDJ is to Iron Man and Christopher Reeve is to Supes.

I was in awe for the entire Peter Parker and Spider-man scenes.

I know we only got a handful of scenes from Tom, so it seems premature to compare that to two actors who had multitudes of screen time over several movies. But Tom nailed everything he should and could have nailed in his screen time. I literally can't fault the guy, and he felt like the character lifted from the page to the screen. For those reasons he is top of my list.

Tobey Maguire is second. An excellent Peter Parker, and a great Spidey. Garfield is a distant third. Woeful Spidey and an even worse Peter Parker.

Exactly. Seeing him on screen just feels like you're watching Peter Parker, it was amazing.

Acting wise Garfield>Tom>Tobey

Tom has much much better writing but Garfield acting is perfect and if he had better written would be the RDJ or spiderman. Tobey is a distance 3erd but none are bad.

Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire are equal for me but I give vote to Tom because he quip more. Everything else he and Tobey are so good at.

Andrew Garfield is worst. Nothing good about his version.

I agree with marcvader it's too soon to rank the best Spidey of the three actors. However I dug Holland's Spidey/Peter's extended cameo/intro into the MCU. It got me more hyped for Homecoming than before.

But honestly I enjoyed both Maguire (aside from some moments in S-M3) and Garfield's portrayals as well.
