And I wasn't even born at the time this came out![]()
Oh well, at least I've seen it on DVD.![]()
Have you been to YouTube? There's plenty of stuff that wasn't included on the DVD. I loved the new documentary but I also wanted an old skool doc as well. They could have also included TV spots, commericals for products that tied in with the movie, etc. In addition some new Michael Keaton interviews and Danny Elfman commentary track.
I still recall the first photo of Batman printed in The Daily Mail. I was in awe. It was a black and white photo, and I assumed the costume was grey and blue. Then when I finally saw it was completely black, at first I thought, "Please no," but then I soon realised that it was even cooler.
Jesus that makes me feel old. This movie has stood the test of time.
I've personally got a DVD from eBay with a bunch of archival news stuff from '89, myself. Fan-made, and it shows tons of cool stuff. The 20/20 segement in it's entirety and more. Including the People's Choice Awards show where B89 won favorite drama and favorite movie of the year, complete with Keaton and Nicholson accepting the awards and joking around up on stage.
Yeah I think I saw that DVD on eBay once upon a time, no idea who the seller was though. Havent bothered seeing if it's still being offered, but it has run thru my mind a few times.True. Stuff like that needs to be included. B89 could so easily support a 4-disc set unto itself, like S:TM, except 4 discs actually about the film itself.
New Keaton interviews are a must, maybe even a commentary. I'd love to hear Keaton give a scene-by-scene observation, talking about his methods and such.
Also great would be an isolated score track so we could finally hear the complete score, which the CD release is lacking in. During the unscored parts, Elfman could talk, just like he did for the Pee-wee SE.
There's toy commercials, TV spots, the original teaser..... there's a LOT that could be added. Even concept art would be nice.
Thats awesome! Think you can upload that stuff to YouTube?
Unfortunately, no. I don't have the computer for it. I'd tried ripping the stuff before, but it ripped poorly or not-at-all. 90% of the time, my computer froze without ripping a second.
Even editing video in Windows Movie Maker is a pain in the ass. I would totally love to, but at this point, it's not feasable.
I was in jr. high and I couldn't wait for 6/23!! I videotaped a bunch of media promotion surrounding the film, the 20/20 segment, a bunch of '80's lookback stuff, and a lot of Entertainment Tonight crap..and I was all...one day I'm going to watch this in the future...I can't find that damn tape anywhere.![]()
Comic Purists ... LOL @ that. It's usually the tale of the tape with you guys. At least you came around quickly.

I think alot of people were surprised the film wasnt like the 60's Adam West TV show also. The casting of Keaton was pretty much led some people to assume that it would be considering the majority of Keaton's successful roles at the time.
Absolutely. The reason why the trailer was released so early (for those days it was extremely early) was to show people what the film would really be like.
the movie finally becomes a grown man...
Look! It's starting to notice girls!
