Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Composer On The Challenge Of Video Game Music. September 25, 2015 . 3:00am

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem composer Yoshiaki Fujisawa talks about how he got started on making music for the game, and his thoughts thus far

The official page of Genei Ibun Roku ♯FE, or what we’re calling Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem until it gets an official English title, has a new blog post featuring the game’s BGM composer Yoshiaki Fujisawa, who talks about his involvement in the upcoming RPG.

Yoshiaki Fujisawa has worked on plenty of music arrangements in the past, including arrangements for talents such as Kenichi “Hyadain” Maeyamada, music for some anime such as Nichijou, and more recently Love Live and GATE. For Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem he’s working for Avex Group, known for having produced many of Japan’s famous pop singers such as Ayumi Hamasaki.

Fujisawa says that his work with Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem all started back with a single phone call in late-fall of 2013.

“Fujisawa-san, are you busy?”

It was from Avex’s Aburai [George Aburai] who shot the proposal, and from there, it was decided that he’d join the staff in the development of a new game, which would end up being Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. From there, he met up with the developers and sound team, learned more about the game, and was a bit nervous, considering that he’s more familiar with working on music for anime an TV shows.

The first thing he felt was “it was very difficult!”

Fujisawa explains that he struggled a lot in the completely different mindset that is required for making video game music, as he’s more familiar with how things are done for TV shows. Everything from the timing, flow, and feelings of a song, were all different from the way he usually works on music; however, the sound team from Atlus gave him all kinds of advice that came in handy for his work.

Fujisawa notes that working with the team in an incredibly creative environment, where ideas shapes themselves up, was really fun. He recalls how excited he felt when they first checked out a demonstration of one of his songs, although he says that he was always nervous whenever it came to presenting the songs, nonetheless.

Since “entertainment” is a big theme of Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Fujisawa explains that the game is full of songs that bring out the feelings of the stages and floors, and plenty of groovy tracks.

“Especially for the battles—I just can’t help but want to dance [to the music] while fighting!” exclaims Fujisawa, as he explains that all the field and event scene tracks have been made with a variety of tracks that have been made through the challenges of ideas provided from the team.

“Oh, and everything about this title is overwhelmingly great, if I do say so myself.”

Fujisawa ended the blog post with a look at the above image. It’s actually a character that appears in the game, and it was modeled after the composer’s actual looks.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem will release in Japan on December 26, 2015 for Wii U.

Meet Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem’s Tharja, Virion, And Other New Characters. October 1, 2015 . 3:30am

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem updates us with a first look at its two new characters in Mamori and Barry, along with a look at three of its Fire Emblem Characters with Draug, Tharja, and Virion.

We recently got the latest information on Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (Genei Ibun Roku#FE) and the official website has followed up with additional details and a first look at the characters and Mirages, along with some new screenshots from Famitsu.

Mamori Minamoto (CV: Kaori Fukuhara):

Similar to the protagonist, a Mirage Master and entertainer who works at the same entertainment business. She’s an elementary student girl that likes older Japanese songs and attire from the Showa period.

She’s proper and polite, and occasionally shows an obedient child-like side of her at times. Contrary to most people of her age, she’s fond of traditional Japanese ballads and kimono. She’s currently working for a children’s program called “Microwave Idol Mamorin.”

Barry Goodman (CV: Yuichi Nakamura):

A former popular musician who goes to Japan for its otaku culture. After his retirement, he’s been working as a trainer for the protagonist and friends.

Barry is all about anime, and has recently been into a show called “Dia Witch Iroha,” a show that is marketed for girls. He admires Mamori, and considers her an “angel.”

Next is a look at a couple Mirages.

Draug (CV: Ryota Takeuchi):

Draug is a Knight (Armor Knight) Mirage, and is Mamori’s partner. Similar to Chrom, he comes from a different world and has lost his memories. He’s a heavy-armored soldier that prides himself in his absolute defend and being able to support allies. He transforms into an axe in battle and lends his strength to Mamori.

Tharja (CV: Kana Akutsu):

A Dark Mage Mirage and Kiria’s partner. Similar to Chrom, she’s from a different world and has lost her memories. She specializes in Dark Magic, and does everything she can to support Kiria, be it during in battle or for everyday life. She lends her strength to Kiria by transforming into a staff.

Virion (CV: Hiromichi Kogami):

Virion is an Archer Mirage, and Eleonora’s partner. Like Chrom, he’s also from a different world and lost his memories. He’s an aristocratic-type character with respect and dignity, but this often leads to some arguments with Eleonora, who can be a bit of a shrew.

Meet Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem’s Cool Kiria And Tsundere Star Eleonora. October 16, 2015 . 2:00am

The latest update for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, or Genei Ibun Roku#FE,
shows us new videos for the cool top musician Kiria and the tsundere future-Hollywood star Eleonora.

Nintendo has updated the official website for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, or Genei Ibun Roku#FE, with the latest character videos for the cool top musician Kiria Kurono and the half-Japanese Eleonora Yumiziru who aims to become a Hollywood star.

[YT]fqbI9BG0EWA[/YT]

Kiria starts out saying “bring it on! I’ll definitely finish that new song,” and shows some interaction between her and her Mirage Tharja, who will do just about anything she can to support Kiria during battle and everyday life.

As far as battle goes, Tharja specializes in Dark Magic, and she’ll also help out Kiria by transforming into a staff in battle. Tharja and Kiria both appear to share a special relationship together as a Mirage Master and Mirage.

[YT]JB9HWy0N8PU[/YT]
Eleonora’s video shows a bit of her interactions between her and the Archer Mirage Virion. Eleonora has some attitude going for her, and tells off Virion by saying “you’re not following up right, I’ll kick your ass!”

She then shows a bit of a “tsundere” side when she gets riled up after the protagonist Aoi Itsuki says “I don’t think it was all for nothing, I got to see a different side to you after all.” While she might have an aristocratic personality, the gentlemanly Virion will always be there to keep her in check.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem will release in Japan on December 26, 2015 for Wii U. The game will release in 2016 in the West.

Nintendo and Atlus have released a two new character trailers for Genei Ibun Roku #FE, introducing Mamori Minamoto and Barry Goodman.
Additionally, the game’s official website was updated with some new information and screenshots:

[YT]QaetTuj4Npw[/YT]
Embodiment of Expressiveness
Everyone keeps a passion hidden within their hearts with thoughts like, “I want to shine,” and “I want my dreams fulfilled.” That hidden glimmer can be sensed as energy exclusively by the Mirages and Mirage Masters. When someone expresses themselves, they shine as greatly as their accomplishments. This is called “Performa.” Those active in the entertainment industry possess great Performa. Mirage enemies attack humans in order to steal their Performa, an energy that does not exist in their world.
Support System

SMTxFE_10-23-15_001.jpg

The protagonist will receive messages from his office friends in real-time through the “Topic” tool, allowing him to communicate with his colleagues. You can advance the story through these messages, and sometimes replying to these messages will result in side-stories that deepen your bonds with other characters.
Shop
SMTxFE_10-23-15_002.jpg

In town, you can visit the shops to pick up equipment. In the “Hiho Mart” convenience store, you’ll find useful items to fight against Mirages, and the shop posters and background music will also change. In the “Jewelry Caravia” accessory shop, you’ll find accessories that enhance various parameters. And at the “Anzu Store Tokyo” clothing shop, you’ll find additional outfits.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Shows Its World, Dungeons, And Battles. October 30, 2015 . 6:45am

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem’s latest screenshots and videos show us more of its world,
some of its dungeons you’ll get to explore, and details on its battle system.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, or Genei Ibun Roku #FE, recently got some updates on the official website, which includes some screenshots and videos that detail the game’s world, dungeons, and battles.

[YT]kp2eCX8BVBo[/YT]

Players will go through a gate from Tokyo to visit the “Idolsphere,” a world filled with various gimmicks, many enemy Mirages, and other dangers that will get in the way. You’ll need to face these challenges with the group of Mirage Masters in order to take your next steps through the game’s story.
There are various gimmicks for each area. For example, at the “106” (Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem’s version of “Shibuya 109”) you’ll need to control a giant mannequin arm in order to get through the floors and reach the top floor’s boss.

Battles start when you run into enemies in the Idolsphere. The battles are command-based, and characters will attack when you give the order. By hitting an enemy’s weakness you’ll get to do a “Session Attack” to be able to land more attacks.

Upon winning fights you’ll get experience points, skill points and Performa. Getting more skill points will allow you to learn more skills, and Performa is used as material to make new weapons. By completing battles you’ll continuously grow and upgrade equipment.

[YT]8VoQ-kcPFhw[/YT]

And finally, the above video gives us a look at what it’s like to explore the world. As you can see, key characters are always visible and you can interact with them, otherwise they’re a bunch of colorful silhouettes.

We then get to see the place get pretty dark with an ominous vibe going on. Itsuki talks to a “game otaku” who says “who cares about music and video games… going home is also a pain in the ass…” and Tsubasa says “I want to help my sister… Please, Itsuki, help me!”

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem will release in Japan on December 26, 2015 for Wii U. You can catch up on the latest character introduction video with the red-haired hero Toma Akagi in our previous report.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Trailers For Tsubasa And Side Stories. November 6, 2015 . 1:00am

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is releasing next month in Japan,
and Nintendo and Atlus put together a couple videos so that we can learn more about the game’s heroine Tsubasa Oribe and the side stories.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (Genei Ibun Roku#FE)is releasing next month in Japan, and Nintendo and Atlus put together a couple videos so that we can learn more about the game’s heroine Tsubasa Oribe and the side stories.

[YT]kN3W-dKUs8I[/YT]

In Tsubasa’s trailer she explains how she wants to become an idol who can cheer everyone up, and her Mirage Shiida encourages her by saying that she needs to put those exact feelings into her songs.

The protagonist Itsuki is shown saying “I’m sure your singing will reach them now!” as Tsubaki says “Yep! I’ll keep working on it, so watch my, Itsuki-kun!” She then slips up in embarrassment after attempting to tell someone thank you, showing a bit of her clumsy side.

[YT]QJFoAClyXl8[/YT]
The following video gives us a look at the “side stories” we’ll see in Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. While the main story focuses more on the fight against the enemy Mirages, the side stories consist of mini-dramas that revolve more around the lives of your friends.

Since they’re all part of the entertainment business, they all have their own dreams and goals. The side stories will show how Itsuki will support them through their live shows, dramas, hero shows, handshake meetings, and cooking shows, as they step it up in their respective fields.

By clearing side stories, the friends will step up their game as an entertainer and Mirage Master, which can unlock special skills used in combat.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Videos Detail “Bloom Palace” And Tiki. November 20, 2015 . 1:15am

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem’s latest videos detail its “Bloom Garden,” where Mirages and Mirage Masters will go to power up, along with Tiki, their own version of Hatsune Miku.

Nintendo and Atlus updated the official website for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (Genei Ibun Roku#FE) with new videos and details on the “Bloom Palace” features,
and a Vocaloid-like character named Tiki.

[YT]P2k_b1xg9Dg[/YT]

Tiki is a key visual character for a vocaloid software in Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, called “Singaloid TiKi,” and it’s recently been a huge hit among Internet users.

It’s currently been an ongoing trend with younger people to upload new songs by Tiki on the Internet.
Think of her as their version of Hatsune Miku of the Vocaloids. In the video, she’s shown at the Bloom Palace and appears to know a lot about Performa.

She can’t seem to remember much of her past, but she’s pretty close with the protagonist Itsuki Aoi and refers to him as “onii-chan.”
[YT]_fp_0wEdf4U[/YT]

Tiki lives in the “Bloom Palace,” a place that is made to replicate the appearances of the other world that the Mirages come from.
This is an important place where Chrom and the other Mirages, along with Itsuki and the other Mirage Masters, will go to power up.

The “Carnage Unity” lets you take Performa acquired from enemies in battle as material,
then create new weapons that the Mirages transform into, called “Carnage.” You can learn a variety of new skills from Carnages,
so it’ll be important to make ones that can hit enemy weaknesses.

“Radiant Unity” is where you get Performa to acquire “Radiant Skills.”
These can help Mirage Masters step up their entertainer game,
and can also improve stats, and buff up “Session” skills.

Similar to the Fire Emblem Awakening, you can get Master Seals in the game,
used to upgrade a Mirage to a higher class job. Mirages have a variety of advanced classes for upgrades,
and they’ll get their own enhancements and ability to use different Carnages.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem will release in Japan on December 26, 2015 for Wii U.

SMTxFE_11-27-15.jpg

Nintendo and Atlus have released a new trailer for Genei Ibun Roku #FE introducing Maiko Shimazaki, a former gravure idol and the president of the Fortuna Entertainment production company that represents the protagonists.

She’s considered a mother figure to the Mirage Master, and has worked as a gravure idol in the past. She’s a drinker, but is also sharp and has quick wits. She cares about her production company comrades more than anything, which shows in her caring and friendly personality.

The trailer starts out with her saying “here’s to another hard working day!” then instructs Itsuki to just simply call her “Maiko” since she thinks its better and friendlier that way. She says that her principle is to always get what she wants, at all costs.

She then tells Itsuki that it’s thanks to him that Fortuna Entertainment has been able to fight on up until now, then offers to take everyone out to go drinking, to which Itsuki responds by saying that they’re mostly all underage

Yashiro Tsurugi is considered a genius in all performances as an entertainer, be it singing or dancing. His personality is cool like ice, and rarely does he show his actual personality.

He’s one to always strive for self-improvement, and he’s considered top class as both a Mirage Master and entertainer. He ends up getting in the way of the Mirage Masters of Fortuna Entertainment due to certain reasons.

In the video he shows his arrogance, but also his talents as he takes out the party with little difficulty. He shows his determination on finishing any jobs he’s given.

The trailer shows him at the Bloom Palace with the others, and he says “you’re going to let me pass,” followed by Itsuki saying “wait! Just what are you going to do to TiKi?” Based on what we’re seeing so far, it doesn’t look like they’re going to get along too well.

Special Performance Extra Skills are your “special move,” so to speak, that unleashes the power of the Mirage or Mirage Master. You can attack ignoring enemy attributes, recover from a critical situation, or use it to turn around the battle in a pinch. This Extra Skill can be triggered by consuming SP.

Duo Arts

A combination attack between two Mirage Masters that maximizes the entertainmente-like charm of the pair. In addition to various effects, you can also activate an additional session, so it’s possible to earn even more combos.
