yeah i know those arent the movie designs jnmx. i like them for the cartoon/comics but i think the new designs are going to look insane onscreen. in a good way. i like that theyre giving us something familiar but something we havent seen before for the last 20 years. the new OP face even grew on me and makes the old one look cartoony and childish. and a little too japanese influenced for me. i dunno why robots from space would take such a japense influenced look. and call me crazy but i like megatrons look and think the drawing doesnt do it justice.

Most Transformers cartoons are based on Japanese influenced art and Japanese created toys. Even though the actual Transformers mythos is American created it IS heavily Japanese influenced. You say why would robots from space take such a japanese influenced look...why would they take such an american influenced look? These robot designs hark heavily to Stan Winston influenced designs such Terminator and even Aliens. Why should the designs of Transformers stray from its roots? It worked for 22 years...why change what works?

And I think I'll call you crazy for liking Megatrons look so much. Such a generic alien monster type look for a character that already has an established look that most even non and casual Transformer fans recognize. Change for the sake of change. Now, I'm waiting for the backlash of, "Oh so you like big blocky robots". To an extent, yes I do. Do I want exact translations of G1...no, not at all. Do I want recognizable Transformers, hell damn yes!

But of course Murphy and Bay have made it better apparently.

I just don't understand what's wrong with making robots look like robots. I can understand not making them so blocky. But atleast they looked functional

Because theres half a dozen different Optimus Primes, megs starscreams etc etc etc... Which one would they pick?? All the over 20's (incl my self here) remember the g1 with great fondness. But theres been so many different models since then.
