Three actors of a same generation( first apparence late 70s first 80s) and the three ones have been masters in comedy and drama. But when Hanks and Williams has been fairly reconigzed, Keaton has been unfairly underrated. Who do you think is the best actor of this trio?

Tom Hanks has had by far the most opportunities to really shine, and become possibly the best actor of his generation. Personally, I prefer Michael Keaton, though.

Keaton is the best actor of the 3 but Hanks is miles ahead in terms of success.

I voted Hanks, but I like them all.

To be fair, I voted a draw because they all are great. Forced to chose only one though, I'd go with Hanks.

Tom hanks is the least talented of the three, Keaton draws with Williams, although Williams is becoming an even better actor still, whilst keaton has hit his peak already.

Tom Hanks easily. Keaton's good, but rarely has the opportunity to shine.

Hanks is a better actor, has a better presence, and is better involved with his projects. Hanks by miles.

hanks plays almost the exact same role everytime, keaton and williams have range, and vast ones at that! Hanks is the 'great to be american actor', and NEVER deserved an oscar for Forest gump, it was all politcs:(

Hanks has rarely gone outside his "comfort zone."

Keaton doesn't even have a zone. He is the man.

I voted draw, but for Hanks and Robin Williams. Michael Keaton is a great actor but outside of a few things (The Paper and Live From Baghdad and Much Ado About Nothing pop to mind) he has done nothing much since BR. His early stuff was great. But it is far surpassed by Williams and Hanks.

I voted draw between Williams and Hanks. For comedy, Williams is one of the absolute best. Hanks is good, but it is no contest. However, in drama while I do appreciate serious Williams (Dead Poets Society, Good Wil lHunting, etc.) Hanks is simply one of the greatest actors of all time in that field.

So a draw between them, then.

I like all three, but if I have to choose just one, I would choose Keaton.

Hanks is not funny. Both Keaton and Williams have proven they can act both dramatically and comedically with sucess. Hanks on the other hand? What is his funniest movie? Big? The Burbs? Not funny.

Hanks, there is not a movie he has been bad in. Might've had a bad script, but he is always phenomonal. Keaton and Williams can't say the same.

I am shocked at how easily you just brushed off his Oscar winning role in Big.

Besides, Hanks does not do traditional comedies. However, he shines comedically in every movie he does. Forrest Gump, despite the serious nature, at the light parts Hanks was hillarious. Catch Me If You Can, same deal. All of his movies are that way. Hanks has a talent that very few people in Hollywood have. He can have you cracking up at one moment and crying the next. He is like the M*A*S*H of actors.

Keaton. And this past year he gave a great performance in Game 6. There is nothing the man can't do. He's Mr. Versatile.

I guess I'm the only one but of the 3 Williams is my favortie. All are great though :)

With the small exception of maintaining a successful career ;)

Haha, just kidding, I like Williams. He is the second best of the bunch.

Actually, that plays into the Versatility part of him. He's been a successful comedic actor, he's been a successful dramatic actor, now he's a successful actor-who's-in-nothing-but-crappy-movies.

Didn't he also leverage and invest his money from the Batman films so he didn't have to work if he wanted to?

Hanks. Not to take anything away from Crowe in Gladiator, but if there was ever a year to at least have a tie for Best Actor it was then with Crowe and Hanks in Cast Away.
